post op day #21

No more muffin top!
I'm finally able to sleep through the night. That has to be one of the best things that has happened since the procedure. I can also get into and out of bed much easier. Right now, I'm trying to find the right combination of protection from the tightness and closures of the compression device; that will prevent marks on my skin. I've used Mederma scar gel but was reading about some scar gel patches that can be worn for a few days and are water proof. This would work better because as soon as I put back on my compression garments, I'm sure the Mederma wipes off. I'm still feeling the intermittent "burning" and itching beyond belief; but these are both manageable. I haven't had any of the hydrocodone since about day 4 or 5 and I haven't had Tylenol for about a week now. I'm getting antsy about wearing these compression garments because I also have to wear a binder (wraps around my waist with a longitudinal Velcro closure) that I have to try very hard to cover up. I didn't have a fat transfer to my buttocks so I can wear soft sweats and skirts or pants that are right at the level of my hips. I still feel good about having this procedure done and I am pleased with the results. I have to do another follow up appointment and take more pictures at my facility next week. Thanks for all the well wishes and encouragement that you guys have provided to each other and to me.

So these will probably be the last photos for a while. I'm going to concentrate on being meticulous in cleaning the wounds myself and doing the daily massages. All drains are now out. I plan to look for a replacement compression garment to wear that is more form fitting. I had one pain pill today to prepare for dressing changes and massage but I'm going to try to use nothing or a little Tylenol from now on. I have to say this has not been easy but it was better than I expected. I now must make a mental note of the importance of keeping on these compression garments for the next 4 months (at least) for optimal results. I wish everyone well in their personal journey!

I'm ending my day pretty content but tired. Trying to mix between Tylenol and Hydrocodone. The Tylenol works but doesn't give the best relief when doing my massages. We washed my large binder (pants all the way to over shoulders) and when we put it back on the drainage in the back started leaking! Yikes! I have to say that once this final drainage tube can come out I'm going to do a happy dance.
