Ultherapy Disaster

I had an Ultherapy treatment performed by a well-regarded, board certified, plastic surgeon. Within the week, my left jaw began aching and through the days I had increased pain in the jaw joint. I was suspicious of the Ultherapy and found horrifying stories of women who had the treatment and whose jaws were severely damaged, as well as extreme facial fat loss and extensive scarring, with no hope for improvement. Many were unable to have fat injections, fillers or plastic surgery to correct it -- stories of absolute despair. I can’t begin to express the emotional distress I experienced after reading these stories. After four weeks, I had an extremely soft jawline and went to see the doctor who advised that it should be fine and to come back in several months as there was nothing else he could do. I developed pain on both sides of the jaw and could not eat anything but soft food. I went back to see the doctor five months after the treatment and showed him the fat loss, increased jowls and loose skin (along with damaged jaw, now on both sides). Also, the inside of my mouth would end up between my teeth, primarily at night. My dentist said he doesn’t believe in coincidences. During that last visit, the doctor said he would be hesitant in the future to recommend the procedure to anyone and agreed to reimburse the majority of the charge. I hope and pray that he never gives this treatment again, as a possible minor improvement is not worth the risk of destroying your face and jaw, and possibly your life. I have huge regrets and so wish I had seen these stories beforehand. I originally decided on this treatment to avoid surgery, but I will have to resort to it - and I'm one of the lucky ones. PLEASE beware – it CAN happen to you. Take care of yourselves!
