So I am 4 weeks post op from having a mommy makeover. My incisions look amazing so far and I want to keep it that way, so I decided to 'protect my investment' and buy Embrace for the tummy tuck scar. I am starting my first application today. I tried to get good pictures of the scar, but you can't really see too much detail. It looks great but there is a tiny bit of raised scar in the middle. Just a little section. The skin looks dry in the pictures because I've had silicone tape on it nonstop for 2 weeks now. After I applied it to the right side, I felt a little burning sensation. There is a little sore area that I'll show in the pictures. It wasnt there before so I don't know if I irritated it while I was cleaning it or what. I'll keep an eye on it, but hoping it doesn't get worse and require me to take it off early. The left side is hanging out about 1/2 cm. It's barely noticeable but next time I'll make sure to scoot it over a tad bit when applying.

Wearing Embrace is comfortable and I forget I have it on. About 5 days in, the bottom of the middle strip started to peel up. I applied a small square of silicone tape over it and it did fine after that. This morning I noticed that it was beginning to peel more on the bottom of the middle strip so I took it all off. The other 2 strips were doing great though. I can't tell any difference yet but I'm sure that's expected. I'll post pics.

Glad you’re doing well. I use Tagaderm clear film dressings along the edges of my Embrace to both waterproof and keep them intact. If you’re interested in knowing more check out my last Embrace update (18 Mar 2018) for details. Happy healing!

Thank you! I'll have to buy some and try it out. It kind of sucks when I have to take the whole thing off because the middle is lifting. If I can make it last longer, then it's worth a shot.

You’re welcome! Yes it will definitely make it last longer. I even swim with mine on and it doesn’t budge. Also to let you know Tegaderm does have a learning curve. You may want to check out an instructional video before applying. I also posted pics with some basic instructions in my last update. Lastly if you like the tagaderm I found the best price I was at Amazon purchasing it in bulk. Good luck. :-)

Awesome. Thanks again. I've used it in my career as a nurse, but never thought to use it on myself. Lol.

Wow how soon can you swim after a TT?? We are getting a pool this summer after 20 years, but my TT was rescheduled to mid May and I was afraid I wouldn’t be in it this summer!!

After 2nd Application

So I lasted 9 days with this round. After I applied the middle piece I realized I applied it too low. The incision was at the bottom of the tape, but being they don't give you a single extra piece for trial and error, I had to leave it. Once the embrace adheres good to your skin, it gets all wrinkly. One of the wrinkles at the bottom and middle of the middle piece started to become painful on day 2. I lasted another 2 days but then had to lift the bottom up. It had created a little blister under the tape. I applied a small bandaid then put silicone tape over the embrace to keep more from lifting. The rest of the tape could have lasted longer but I was starting to notice that where the tape is wrinkly starts to irritate my skin after a few days. I took it off and my skin is definitely irritated after this round. The incision itself is slightly red now and doesn't look any thinner but I don't think it's any wider either, which is the goal. I'll post pictures.

Just saw your Embrace review. I've done 2 rounds. Both times stayed on almost 2 weeks, would have kept longer but I was due for checkup with PS and wanted my skin to have a few days to heal. It does irritate my skin around the scar, so I usually take 2 weeks off, use Biocorneum scar gel instead, and then reapply. This time I've taken 3 weeks off, will probably begin 3rd round of Embrace on Monday.

Nine days is good. Also if it helps to know an Embrace manufacture rep I spoke with said it doesn’t really affect the healing if the incision is not right on center with the tape; and as long as it’s covered you should be OK.
I always use medical adhesive remover wipes when removing my Embrace to avoid irritation. I have very sensitive skin. An Embrace rep sent me a free couple samples of Allkare medical remover wipes, which work great. However even with gentle removal of the tape my incisions usually feel a little irritated. I usually wait at least 12 hours for the incisions to calm down before taking pics. Not to mention the manufacture instructions are to wait 12 to 24 hours before reapplying tape, so waiting to take pics is no problem.
One last thing I want to mention (in case you’re not aware): after several weeks postop scars usually enter what is referred to as the “angry phase” when they darken or turn red for a period of time. So don’t be discouraged if this happens. Good luck and happy healing! :-)
