Picture of padded maximiser bra worn from week 7 post explant

I thought I would be wearing the padded cropped tops forever and did not envisage ever wearing a 'proper' bra, until I came across this in Primark. It's a padded maximiser bra for £5 and is very pretty. It comes in lots of different colours: black, white, Ivory, silver, green, blue. The padding is a sort of silicone padded wedge incorporated into the underside of the cup. I started wearing this bra when I was 7 weeks post op and have been wearing it for 5 weeks now. I have LOTS of them in all the colours! I'm wearing a 34B but I'm not a 34B, I'm about a 34A. I think the size in the bra label is the size of the 'appearance' in the bra, not your actual size. I feel like I look a similar size to how I looked 'with implants' when wearing this bra. The padded cropped tops were an absolute life saver, but the padded maximiser bra is just the icing on the cake which I was not expecting!!
The only negative is that it's not 100% comfortable. At the end of the day it feels really good to take it off. I don't know if it's because is underwired and I've never worn underwired bras before and it's something I need to get used to. In fact I've never worn 'proper' bras. For the past 21 years with implants I've lived in Sloggy style over-the-head cropped tops. I'm now learning to do up a bra clasp at age 42!! Lol
It makes me wonder if I would've ever had implants in the first place if these bras were around when i was a teenager. I think the answer would be no. When I look at the choice of bras available now, compared with 25 years ago it is shocking. I can't congratulate Primark enough for getting it right, and hopefully they will have saved thousands of girls from thinking they need breast implants. Why have silicine implanted into your body when you can wear it on the outside stitched into your clothing!
As far as the comfort issue goes I'm going to carry on wearing them and see how it goes. After all.... slippers are lovely and comfy but we don't wear them out and about every day, we wear our shoes! The padded cropped top is like wearing a pair of fluffy bed socks... and wearing the padded maximiser bra is like wearing a pair of high heels! Feels and looks great wearing it but lovely to take it off!

Picture of padded cropped top worn from week 1-7 post explant

After wearing the compression cropped top for the first week I progressed to wearing the padded cropped top for a further 6 weeks. I wore a clean one every day, then slept in the same one at night time and put a clean one on every morning. I slept in them at night time for 4 weeks, then I just wore them day time. They're quite small fitting like the compression cropped top so I went with a medium size. They are £6 at Asda and they come in black and white, although I think they have just started selling another colour, grey I think. I loved this padded cropped top as it is the most comfortable thing I've ever worn! I went crazy and bought LOADS as I thought that they were what I'd be wearing forever. They have adjustable straps and they're nice thin ones so it looks like a bra. The padding gives a bit of shape under clothing. The padded inserts are removable, make sure you do remove them before washing as at first I made the mistake of washing them with the pads inside and they get ruined. The foam pads fold up inside and then show the crease lines when they're dry. They are very fiddly for re-inserting the foam pads but once i found my own technique for doing it, it was ok just a bit of a time consuming daily nuisance! I ended up just washing the tops and not washing the foam pads at all as they just get ruined if they're washed.
I could not recommend these cropped tops highly enough. They are so comfortable and gave me the boost in confidence I needed post explant to go out and about my daily life.

Picture of Compression cropped top worn for first 7 days post op

This is the compression style cropped top which I wore immediately after surgery for about 7 days. I wore it all day and night. It was a twin pack from Asda, one black and one white and they cost about £7 for the two. I changed them every day and washed them daily so I only bought 1 pack. I put a clean one on every morning then slept in the same one at night. I didn't want to waste my money on something I would only be wearing for a short time. I'm quite small framed but I think these were a medium size as they are quite small/tight fitting. I didn't want it to be so tight that it would be uncomfortable.
