After a lot of consideration, careful research and discussion with my very close friends, I decided to get FUE surgery. First and foremost, let me say, I am not the type that ever thought I would get “Plastic surgery”. At the end of the day, guys are held to a different standard and made to feel uncomfortable about such procedures… let me be the first to say, if you’re considering getting this procedure, DO IT!

Secondly, if you haven’t had the luck to discover Dr. Rawnsley, please do some research, check out his website and find out more. By far, one of the most professional Dr.’s/staff I have had the good fortune to encounter. Don’t be fooled by international Dr.’s who charge very little. This is your looks/head, go with a professional Dr. who is experienced and renowned. In the end, saving a few thousand is not worth the risk you take of purchasing a bad procedure.

I found Dr. Rawnsley after doing some digging on the internet and decided from other reviews and being closely tied with the UCLA system, he was the best person for the surgery. I booked my consultation and voila, we were off and running.

My first impressions were great! I arrived at Dr. Rawnsley’s clean/modern building adjacent to the UCLA Medical campus. I was greeted by Suzanne, the office manager and made to feel incredibly comfortable. I then met with Dr. Rawnsley, who, due to my age, recommended I go with the FUE procedure. He patiently answered all my questions and showed me where my new hairline would be.

On September 10th, I arrived at UCLA medical facilities and received 2500+ grafts. The entire procedure is done with only local anesthesia. You will be 100% awake for the entire thing but mostly listening to music or watching Movies/TV in your private room. A lot of people have asked this on some of the other review I posted but the pain is pretty minimal. You will receive (2) injections to start in the front of your head, at which point, Dr. Rawnsley methodically works his way to the back, making every effort to avoid any discomfort.

After about 7 hours, a few movies and some pizza later, my procedure was complete. My head was wrapped by Dr. Rawnsley’s amazing staff and personally walked to my car. At this point I drove home, enjoyed some tea, watched a few movies and took some of the sleeping/anxiety medication prescribed by Dr. Rawnsley. Needless to say, I slept completely fine and woke up the next morning feeling minimal pain.

All in all, the procedure was one I would 100% recommend to anyone considering it. Dr. Rawnsley is one of a kind in this industry and him and his staff completely blew me away with regards to consideration for my comfort.

I will be posting updates over the coming months regarding my progress. Please ask any questions and I will be glad to answer them accordingly!

Wow, I am impressed - incredible results! Did you experience any shock loss, and how long did it take for the growth, or hair to fill in so nicely?

Would you consider posting some before pics?

The first paragraph sounds a lot like me, I certainly still feel uncomfortable about elective cosmetic procedures. Since your hair loss and age are similar to mine, I'm curious to see how you hair has progressed since October. I'd love it if you could post an update, I hope it's going well!

12 Months Post FUE Surgery - Rawnsley

Hey All. I wanted to follow up here as its now been about 12 months post op. I have seen AMAZING results. In short, the procedure was a complete success and have seen some pretty amazing results.

Considering I explained the procedure and how well I was treated by Dr. Rawnsley and his staff in my previous post I figured I would discuss the results here a little further and the timeline that came with it.

So I received FUE Surgery in September of last year. Timeline for growth was as follows:
Week 1-2 : Saw the thickness I would receive via grafts Dr. Rawnsley has placed.
Week 2-4: Lost all grafts and receded back to original hair thickness (maybe slightly more thick than before).
Month 1-3: Saw pretty limited results but could feel very short growth (almost like a 5 o'clock shadow) growing below my normal hair.
Month 4-6: Started seeing some serious results as the grafts started to take root and grow. After a few hair cuts (I went pretty short during this time) my grafts caught up with my natural hair.
Month 7-10: Saw significant thickening of the hair and almost completely lost my "Thin" look.
Month 11-13: Slight thinning of hair but less "Frizz" that occurs the first year. I would say at this point growth has stopped and my head of hair looks really very natural.

In the end, this was one of the best decisions i've made in my life. It was something that was on my main basically at all times of day. Being able to eliminate this worry and just kind of "Move on with my life" was something I am extremely thankful for. Dr Rawnsley and his team were extremely helpful. I had 3 post op meetings and the were just as friendly post surgery as they were pre. No gimmicks, so sales, they just legitimately wanted me to feel better about myself. If you're thinking about FUE surgery and are in the California/Southern California area, I would 100% recommend him.
