Looking Good! Tuscon

Okay I know I said I'd post some photos, but frankly have been keeping myself busy and am too lazy to download them from my camera. Day 4 was big because I got the drain out. Feeling SO much better without that thing hanging around my neck. Also looking quite ok. Spent the afternoon walking around the U of A campus and checking out one of their museums. I'm feeling really excellent but trying not to overdo it so went back to the house and spent the evening watching a little TV doing some work on my laptop and reading.
Day 5 the swelling is going down and I have a pretty good bruise on my neck, but not so horrible that I can't go out. All is going well, and frankly .. no bragging intended, but I think I look FAB! So excited to have a smooth neck even if it is purple right now, and marionette lines are totally gone. If you are thinkin of doing this .. all I can say is go for it!! Dr. Maloney made it SO easy I can't believe how much time I wasted worrying about the pain, recovery, weirdness of having someone cut on my face while I was wide awake. All of those fears were for nothing. I'm feeling and looking great.

After debating about doing this for well over a year, and interviewing several Plastic Surgeons I finally got tired of looking in the mirror and saying to myself "you have got to do something about your lower face and neck". I live in Los Angeles, so you may wonder what I'm doing in Tuscon AZ. After seeing several Dr.'s in my area I saw a review on Real Self about Dr. Maloney. When I compared his credentials to the Plastic Surgeons I had been seeing there was no contest. Although price was not my main concern, his credentials are much more impressive than anyone in LA that I had seen and his fee is half of what I'd pay in LA so I decided to give them a call. From my first contact with Lindsay I had a very good feeling about their office and team. After much deliberation and asking myself if I was mad to go to Tuscon for this procedure, I decided to go for it and I can't tell you how glad I am that I made the right decision.

The procedure was super easy. I drove in on Monday, had a consultation, and pre-op that afternoon then had the procedure on Tue. morning The honest truth is, I still can't believe how easy it was. I took 2 valium in the morning, went to the office where Dr. Maloney numbed first my neck ... it didn't hurt a bit, then finished my neck did the same numbing on one side of my face then the other. I was wide awake the whole time and we kept a good conversation between myself, Dr. Maloney and nurse Susan. I called it conversational anesthesia Truthfully, I was not a bit uncomfortable the entire time. The woman who I was renting a room from picked mu up at 11:30 and I was fine. I had talked about this with Lindsay when I said I didn't really have anyone in Tuscon to pick me up and she said I could take an Uber back. No one in Los Angeles was willing to let me do this so I was a bit worried that they were being a bit casual but I could have easily taken Uber. I was totally fine, no drowsiness, and just an ace bandage around my head .. not even too scary looking.
The first night was a bit challenging sleeping in near sitting position, but I managed. Dr. Maloney called me around 5:30 to check on me and I was fine. I was also able to take off the ace bandage at 5. My neck was a bit sore but not painful, more like sore muscles, which makes sense since he tighten the muscles in my neck. The drain is s of kind of a pain and a little sore but nothing that I can't deal with. Did not take any pain medication because of the nausea warning. Decided that I'd rather have a little discomfort that nausea. Also had a pretty sore throat so only ate a little yogurt a banana and a peanut butter sandwich (thought I should have something solid with some protein). I get sore throats easily so this my not be a problem for others.
Day 2 went back to the office saw Cynthia, the coordinator .. who had a facelift 3 months ago and looks fab. She said I'd need to keep the drain at least one more day. Had some swelling but not scary looking enough not to be able to go out. Stopped at local store for some supplies then took Uber back to the place I'm staying. Did a bit of work on my laptop and took it easy the rest of the day.
Day three ... went back to the office hoping to get my drain out but looks like it will be in one more day . I'm looking pretty good ..I'll post a couple of photos tomorrow. I have some bruising on my neck but my face looks good. Looking a bit like a Chipmunk around my jaws, but not so bad that I can't go out without scaring people. One of the big benefits to coming here is I don't have to worry about running into anyone I know. Drove my car to and from my appointment today and did a few errands. Feeling good, no pain at all. I'm SO glad I did this and for sure know that I chose the right surgical team. I'll write more and my progress moves forward, but if you are thinking about a facelift I would highly recommend Dr. Maloney. Also if any of you want too know where I'm staying I can give you the details.

Dr. Maloney is exceptional. Smart, nice, listens to your concerns and explains exactly what is going to happen. After a short consultation I was ready to let him cut on my face so you know I had total confidence in him.
