2 weeks Pre Op,wet hair showing hairloss

On previous pictures, you see me 4 weeks pre Op, with well hidden hair loss....how ? well keeping my hair long, style it in a way ( bob effect) that the bald or receding areas would be covered well. AND using color-matching waterproof compact powder hair concealer to blend bald or receding areas.

Now I am posting pcitures of my hair, without all that, and wet so you can really see my stage 4 of bald or receding stage

3 weeks Pre Op, well hidden hairloss

39, Stage 3 to Almost 4 NW, Mixed Race European Carribean, FUT HT in Istanbul Turkey, MARAL KLINIK

After years of fights against my hairloss problem that started when I was ard 17/18yo,I decided it was time to hit back big time and when for a FUE HT OP at Maral Klinil in Istanbul , Turkey, carried out on 18/9/15 from 10am to 4.30pm including 20-30mn lunch break. I know it was the right decision..
I am French mixed raced Caribeean 39 heading to 40, licing for 6 years in Germany and always heard I look far more younger and wanted it to stay that way. I have been fighting with hairloss for more than 20 years, I may have spent ( serious , no kidding) , a fortune in money and time to fight and/ or hide my hair loss.
I tried almost everything. I would say that so far I was quite successful in hiding and slowing it down....but at what cost?

I was taking finasterid ( no side effect for me) + from time to time ( but not steadily) a mix of Minoxidil 5 to 15 percent and Azelaic acid 5 percent as well as Saw palmetto supplement ( very very good against DHT , DHT being main cause of genetic thinning hair and loss)
On to of that, I was using hair concealer ( compact powder as Spray did not bring me the results I needed) to hide reciding hairline, and keeping a mi-length hair cut to be able to hide my thinning area by styling my hair from a side to another ( bob effect)
It was enough to hide or camouflage it but it was heel of work and money investment, it was realy hitting hard my life style and I could not with it anymore.
Looking younger that your age may sounds appealing but then, when you losing your hair, it looks weird. Young face, no hair..;-((

January of 2015, I was on Holiday in Gran Canary on Holiday and met a guy suffering from advanced hairloss ( I d say at leadt stage 6) , he was Flemish but heard from many Turkish friends that Turkey was excellent ( Quality and price) for FUE / FUT HT OP.
Somehow it remained stuck on my head and I started researching info extensively and was amazed by what I found. After months of research, I found contact details of 3 clinics, in Istanbul, one of them was Dr MARAL from MARLAKLINIK. I sent them pictures of my hair loss stage.
Though I got responses from all 3 clinics, Dr Maral appeared to be the best choice.
He said I was NW stage 4 and based on my pictures , my donor area looked excellent and I was a very good candidate for FUE HT. I would need 3000 to 3500 grafts.
Communication was easy, per email and whatsapp. I made up my mind and decide to go with him and schedule for 18/9 my OP ( during my 2 weeks Holiday in September)

Until that date, we kept contact and each time i had questions, I would send an email and would get swiftly answers.

I flew from Cologne Germany, where I live now to Istanbul, Turkey for the first time, on 17/9. I was nervous but also very excited. The trip was OK, but arrived late as my Flight was delayed. I was picked up by 1 of the 3 MaralKlinik s chauffeurs at the airport and brought to the Hotel the Clinic booked for me.( Airport-Hotel-Clinic-Hotel-Airport transfers and 3 nights Included into the offer) . Spent the 1st night there and was picked up after breakfast ard 9h15-30am. Arrived at teh clinic ard 15mn later ( as we drove to another Hotel to pick another patient on the way).
18/9: That morning we were 3 patients, we all got an individual interview with dr Maral, went through some further questions, re defined desired hairline. I was ask to keep my hair as long as possible, to get a real idea of what they look like long. After shaving my head, Dr Maral was a bit concerned that maybe in fact my donor area was not that good. reality differs sometimes from pictures...fortunately later we found out that my donor area was enough for what I needed ;-)

We started at ard 10am and the whole extraction procedure last until 12h30. Had a 20-25mn Lunch break offered by the clinic ( delicious) , then transplation phase started ard 1pm until roughly 4.30pm. As you may know, you get your head under local anaesthesia, so except the 1st 3 injections , you do not feel anything. ( I will post picture of my head during the procedure) . They got 3200 grafts for me. Perfect..

When OP was over, Dr MAral who came regularly during OP to check on progress, gave us instructions ( how to survive the first night lol) and medication ( pain killers in case, Anti- inflammatory for ( normal) swelling, and antibiotics to avoid infections, travel nap and pillow to help sleep with head in right position not to damage freshly transplanted grafts). We were sent back to hotel.

Next morning , after breakfast, we were brought back to clinic, for Day 1 inspection and removal of the bandage, and 1st cleaning. We were given new but essential instructions on how to take care of that new " head" of ours for the next 2 weeks and we all got special shampoo, lotion, and tips to get rid of cruts and redness quickly. If you are interested in knowing how ,l ask me, I ll tell you what you can buy before the OP to get ready and do things even better that I did to get rid safely and swiftly of the crusts/scabs and redness after OP and get back , discretely to normal life as if nothing happened..lol

I stay in the hotel 3 nights and booked 2 extra nights in another Hotel to stay and visit this great city. ALso, In case I had to go back to see them if something would have happened...After altogether , 5 nights, I flew back home 1 day and to my ( normal) holiday right afterwards to Spain for an extra 12 days.

Today . 09/10 ( 3 weeks after OP) I have been back to work on 5/10. No one noticed anything, they all thought I had a summer hair cut during my holiday and even told me I look far better like this LOL

( I LL POST MORE PICTURES THIS WEEKEND)

SHOCK HAIR LOSS: You have heard of it. It s normal. 60 to 100% of transplanted hair will eventually fall out after setting in the follicle in the scalp ( approx. 3 days needed for that) , and 2 to 4 months later new permanent hair start to grow.
It normally starts between 10 days to 1 month after OP. Mine seemed to have started a bit earlier , after 1 week, I was a bit scared it would mean it did not work, but I found out that my other colleagues ( the other patients that got the same OP that day) had the same , after also 1 week.
I really hope this will work...I have to wait now and pray...

I ll try to keep this review alive for at least 1 year. I ll tell you more about the mistakes not to do, etc....Any questions, please feels free to ask..

Thanks

cheers
