Electrolysis Hair Removal Caused Patchy Hair Growth / Rough Skin - Tumwater, WA

Hi, for christmas my mother decided she'd pay for me to get electrolysis done starting from my legs, and working my way up. After looking online and reading about it, it seemed most appealing, since I read that it would be a more permanent and effective way to prevent and eventually rid myself totally of unwanted hair. The meetings with my electrolysist were great, she was very helpful and friendly, and gave a great consultation, so I decided to go with it. After the first session, my skin was patchy red and extremely itchy and rough. I asked her about this during our next session and she said if I moisturized daily, it would be gone eventually. Well, a few sessions later over a few weeks, the spot was still itchy, red, rough, and hair was growing back coarser. I stopped getting electrolysis done and switched to waxing my legs, immediately I noted it had a significant difference in the way my hair grew back, which was thinner and sparse. I started electrolysis in January, and now it is August, and I still have the same rough, patchy, though now only *slightly* pink spot on my leg.
The first photo is just after a few sessions, when I noticed it wasn't going away, and decided to switch to waxing. The second was taken today, where you can see it slightly red, but the skin is definitely still rough and bumpy when I rub my fingers over it.

Thank you for joining us and sharing your story. Do you find electrolysis painful? How does it feel in comparison to waxing? How many weeks were you treatments spaced apart?

Hi Eva, I didn't find the probing too painful, it was somewhat comparable to tweezing/poking in my opinion. Once she started, I was able to get used to it, and it didn't bother me at all. Waxing was noticeably more painful for me, though not too extreme thank goodness, since the pain is over just as soon as the wax is taken off :). I had a friend who waxed herself in previous years & sometimes she would do me as well, so I kind of knew what to expect. I went through electrolysis treatments about once a week (at most twice) over roughly three months.

Oh that's good! Keep us posted.
