I underwent an abdominoplasty with Dr. Manuel Medina in early 2024. Following the procedure, I experienced a significant change in the appearance and positioning of my umbilicus that was not present prior to surgery. The resulting contour and scar placement were outside of what I personally expected based on my consultation and preoperative discussions.
This required further evaluation and an attempted revision with another surgeon, which did not correct the issue and resulted in additional scarring. I have since scheduled more complex reconstructive surgery with an out-of-town specialist. (Please note that the pictures included in my review only represent the work of Dr. Medina.)
This process has involved additional procedures, travel, recovery time, and expense beyond what I originally anticipated, and it has been physically and emotionally challenging.
I would strongly encourage prospective patients to conduct thorough research before proceeding. In my experience, it is important to carefully review a surgeon’s before-and-after photos for the specific procedure you are considering, including seeking out independently posted patient results when possible, and ensuring you are comfortable with the consistency of their work. I would also recommend independently verifying board certification, training background, and experience through official sources.
