No more spare!

Wow, I’ll be able to wear things that still have price tags. From years ago! Waiting to lose the ponch! It’s surreal and I should have done it sooner. I feel my confidence rising day by day. Today I will try to get around a bit more, shower and get into a wrap dress for comfort and try to do my hair. I know. It’s a stretch. Lol

Congratulations!!!! It sounds like you're doing pretty well, especially being 5 days post. The first week is the hardest for sure! I'll be four weeks post as of tomorrow. In so impressed with how you hadn't the first night with vomiting coffee ground-like blood, I would have freaked! You look like you're standing fairly straight already in this pic, I'm still hunched over some days. Isn't it crazy how something that was simple before (like doing hair) now requires like double the time and a nap afterwards? Lol. Our bodies are capable of amazing things!
Thanks and yes I freaked but remembered brown blood is old and the amount must have been from a slow bleed. The thought of going to the hospital after that first night was more scary!. I also imagined that he may have stuck the tube down my wrong pipe and quickly fixed it? I guess I’ll never know LOL it still hurts a little bit to swallow right around my hiatal opening. I am surprised how much I can stand up at times but I quickly have to bend back over, but my back at one point where I bend over is excruciating, like a muscle I’ve never used? I’ve been using in CBD ointment on my lower back and it’s working very well! I got a shower in and of course doing my hair was just a dream. I always have high hopes but at my age I’m going to have to take my time. I am 57 So recovery will be a little bit longer I’m sure. Great time for life reflections and Researching and planning the future. I hope week 2 is better. Are you doing most normal activities at 4 weeks? Hope you have great healing and results. Thanks for checking in!
I'd love to put a heating pad on my back but holy cow my PS is adamant NOT to do it. Never thought about CBD oil! Week three was the miracle week for me. Weeks one and two were rough. I have two small children so I wouldn't say I'm back to "normal" activities yet but it's as close as it's ever been! Can't pick them up or play and wrestle with them which stinks. I can do most household chores but I still get fatigued and sore for sure, rest breaks are my friend, lol. I'm still really swollen and my incision is scabbed in areas; I'm eager to start the scar treatment!
I’m at day 16 post op and I didn’t feel like a human until week two so it sounds like you are doing great. I still sleep propped up but am getting around much better. It felt really nice to leave the house and go eat at a restaurant 2 weeks post op. I’m still walking hunched over and can’t do a lot. Looking at my body kind of scares me with the in incisions. I have a weak stomach and low pain tolerance. So I would really like to fast forward to one year from now ;)

Walking became much easier today

I was able to walk in much less back pain and I slept well. I have been tapering off meds. Instead of 1-2 every 4 hours I take half a pill as needed, about every hour to hour and a half. I’m using half every 2-3 hours now. I feel like the worst part may be behind me.

Back pain unbearable

I’ve never had my back go out, ever. This is the worst feeling. Staying still helps. Time to stay put and heal.
I haven’t read if it’s okay to lean forward and stretch my lower back like Indian style stretching forward gives me some relief. Taking it easy.

Your pics look great. This is this scariest thing I’ve ever gone through. I don’t think I realized what a big deal this surgery is. How are you feeling? I’m 15 days post op and I didn’t feel anywhere near normal until about day 10 or 11. My doc told me I wouldn’t be out of the worst of it until day 14. But once you heal and get through it it’s amazing to see how the body can recover.
Hey! Thanks for asking! I hear you. This is major. I feel like I’m out of it. Surreal. But I’m lucky to have great help. My son rubbed cbd ointment on my back that seems to help. I have a feeling I will take some time. Glad that I can look forward to relief on day 10 give or take. I don’t think we can comprehend the actual depth of the surgery. My son said in a funny way “ your caveman brain thinks a dinosaur bit a chunk out of you and now your trying to recover. Lol. I tried not to laugh. Probably wasn’t that funny except for the narcotics kicking in. Lol
Wear the compression garment - I bought a few diff ones, best one is Maidenform..
and I use the surgical one at night (washed ofc!). you
R core need the support given
