*(Edited)Starting my Journey with Dr. Mehio ETT,LIPO,BBL

Ok so starting my TT and BBL journey and I selected Alvarez! August 16th is my date, deposit has been paid and after a few years of research, lost deposits to surgeons who just took my money without understanding the hereditary condition I have, and canceling me even though I’ve always disclosed I have beta thalassemia minor trait(I won’t write a dissertation on what it is exactly, those who have it understand) and being turned down because of it, no it does not make you prone to bleeding more it basically translates to all other factors of my CBC being normal but my hemoglobin to be low, my “normal” range is 10.8-11.4. I’m in excellent health outside of that.
My PCP and hematologists have always cleared me as safe and told me don’t give up you have to find the right doctor! I’ve had my hematologists involved through out this whole process and is on board with helping with preoperative optimization for my journey! His office was the perfect fit for me because they offer the cell saver for patients who hemoglobin is 11-11.9. This is a debate for some plastic surgeons because these are procedures are minimal in blood lost but, each surgeon have different requirements, which is why you will get a different answer to the same question depending on what doctor you ask. Yes this will cost me an additional $500 but it’s worth it for someone in my case. I almost gave up and became very frustrated because most surgeons wanted my hbg to be 12 or more and suggested I take iron supplements which does not help in my case. My hematologists is very good we did a trial run for 2 weeks and the medication therapy options worked!! So I’m super excited when I found Dr Alvarez, he has great reviews and his staff at Mia Aesthetics in Miami has been super good with communication!
Like many dolls I’m understandably nervous but also excited that I can finally look forward to a better body even before I had a child. I decided to start my updates to help someone like myself who may be experiencing these same obstacles. Moral of my story is if you find yourself being denied because of this it’s just a delay until you find the right doctor!

Omg! I have had the absolute worst experience while dealing with Dr. Alvarez admin staff!!!! I’ve literally had it up to my neck with the horrible communication! Like many other girls I am experiencing the worst customer service from them. I am two seconds away from cancelling my sx. I want to believe other girls stories and the good experience they have had when finally meeting Dr. Alvarez but the girls have the most communication with his patients and quite frankly are going to bring a bad name to his practice. I’ve lost all confidence at this point in going through with this journey. My doctor called and wanted to speak to Dr Alvarez to began coming up with a perioperative plan and was told by the admin staff she would not be able to speak with him that she would have to speak to an admin supervisor??? In what practice can a MD not have a peer to peer conversation? My doctor was so taken back and is now uncomfortable with me even going. My doctor is very hands on and cares about my well being and wants the best outcome since I’ll be back in her care post op. The clearance and lab person is the WORST, too bad I can’t recall her name she is so nonchalant as well. This decision to have sx is not to be taken lightly our lives are in these physicians hands and like many other dolls I’m nervous and these attitudes his staff present adds on to the anxiety that is not needed! The sad part is before they get your money they are the absolute nicest....then it goes downhill from there. In the world of cosmetic sx patients experiences can either make or break the practice. I hope in the next few days things change and things get rectified because if not I’ll be starting over again! I’ll be trying to reach out to Dr Alvarez to share my experience as well!

So just a quick update, I have made a personal decision and change my surgeon to Dr.Mehio and I have a new date scheduled in Oct! Any Sx sisters going around that time please let me know! Best of luck Dolls!
