Consultation review: doesn't show his work

I went for a consultation Dr. Zabel for a Mommy Makeover because his price is very reasonable. I took the day off work and it was a 2 hour drive. I was very happy with his patience and the time he took to explain everything. I am fairly in shape and wanted to remove my mommy pouch and have muscle repair.
Dr. Zabel advised me that I don't have enough skin for a basic horizontal incision, and he would also have to do a VERTICAL incision. To me, he seemed to know what he was talking about. I made arrangements with Amanda to book my procedure and paid the $500 deposit.
I was so excited...until I spoke to my sister. She immediately looked him up and saw he had no photos of his work to verify. She thought I'd be crazy to see a plastic surgeon without photos of his work. I took her advice, and I e-mailed Amanda to request photos of his previous work the next day. They don't provide photos because everyone has different results and for privacy reasons. I wanted to see the improvements he made in different people. She told me I'd have to come back into the office to meet with the Dr. again. I live 2 HOURS away and have to take the day off work. I asked to cancel and be provided a refund and she told me they would only do that if I went back into his office. I asked for a partial refund. They refused.
I booked my tummy tuck with a different surgeon. closer to my home. I'm happy with my results and he did a nice, clean HORIZONTAL incision ONLY and got the job done. I guess this was just a $500 mistake but at least my stomach isn't mutilated with more scarring.
