Hi Ladies! I've been on RealSelf for 15 years!
After 3 babies, and years of waiting. It. Is. My. Turn!
I've looked at Dr.Ortega's work over these years. I've seen countless videos, reviews and journeys. And I am definitely ready.
My surgery day is November 2nd.
I ordered the IV therapy package as well.
I will update here after surgery with before and after pics and video!
Finally!!!

Pre-op DONE! Surgery tomorrow!

I’ve added my before photos here.

Pre-op went surprisingly well. Spectrum may have improved. Over the years the wait time was a huge issue.
I got in within 30 minutes of arrival.
Pre-op was completed by a nurse. The process included a finger prick for Covid testing I believe and… (ha! spectrum called while I was writing this. My surgery time is 8:00am) … urine test. You also get weight, height, and blood pressure and you’re done.
First time meeting Dr Ortega will be the day of surgery!
I did have to wait one hour after pre-op for my IV therapy. But during that wait I chatted with the girls they. They are so sweet. Made the wait worth while.
I purchased 2 IV therapy sessions - $250. One is administered the day before surgery. The second is administered the day after surgery.
They help speed up recovery and passing effects of anesthesia.
I feel I can handle lymphatic massages myself or show my husband what to do.
Anyhoo… I’ll update you all after surgery!

What a JOURNEY!

I’m 7 days post op today and oh what a journey it has been.
I went to my post day one appointment and almost fainted. Sitting up in the chair too long paired with dehydration caused it. The nurse laid me back and helped me remove my hoodie (bc I had broken into a sweat) an gave me an additional iv fluid with my iv recovery fluid.
I recovered but then had to walk and use the bathroom myself and almost passed out again. Spectrum staff don’t really help you. They are desensitized to the urgency. At one day post op. Caregivers should be allowed in or all nurses should wheel patients around.
The following morning hubs had to rush me to the hospital. Dr Ortega is registered with Aventura, so we went there.
I had to get 2 blood transfusions and stay for 2 days. Dr Ortega was incredibly attentive. He came to visit me and called 3 different times while I was in the hospital.
He met with the ICU doctors to go over my cat scan and detail how much blood I lost during surgery.
According to him I only lost 200 ml in the OR. He suspects the postop blood loss caused the issue.
I’ve now been home 2 days and I feel amazing. I’m raising my hemoglobin back to a healthy range and staying on top of my meds.
I’ll be going to my next postop with Dr Ortega on Tuesday.
