I’ve always been chubby. I have also spent a LOT of time working on my fitness. I’ve boxed, attended other bootcamps, Zumba, and running races. The scale never budged and I had to learn to be ok with that. It was not easy.
I joined BurnBootCamp at the end of December with the goal of toning up, and to lose 8lbs.
I went to camp 3x week and I would run on my off days to prepare for the Gasparilla 8k
I wasn’t seeing the results on the scale, I had hoped for, but I was getting stronger.
I started going to bootcamp 5x a week training for the savage race and ran evenings 4x a week, prepping for a 5k.
Still no change on the scale.
After the 5k in May, I took a break from the heat and stopped running, it continued 5x a week to prepare for the Titan Tactical race and the scale FINALLY started to budge.
I have lost inches but not much weight and my belly looked like a deflated balloon. I had muscle separation and an umbilical hernia. Basically looks like an udder.
No amount of exercise will repair any of that, so I went to speak with a plastic surgeon about a tummy tuck

Day of surgery

I arrived at 6:15 for surgery at 7am? I couldn’t tell you because the anesthesiologist gave me some versed in my IV and I remember laying on the table and that’s it.
I also barely remember recovery, I *think* I might have been singing along to the radio. I do remember being able to walk to a recliner and having some help getting dressed. Dr. Halpern & team gave me beautiful flowers to take home.

Post op over the weekend...

Surgery was on Friday and now it’s Monday night. I have my first follow up appointment on Tuesday afternoon. Binder is still in place, though I have taken it off briefly to let my skin breathe (I was getting itchy) cause I can’t shower. Took a peak at my belly button and it sure is a change from my “cave of wonders” belly button. I also see some of my old curves!
