I had a full tummy tuck with lipo of the anterior flanks.

I will start with the cons, as there are only a few. Number one, the discomfort. Number two, my second drain had to stay in a little longer so I wouldn't fill up with fluid (everyone is different) and it was very uncomfortable to walk with after a while.

The pros...where do I start? I've been heavy off and on my whole life, mostly on. As a result I've had an "apron" stomach that hung low enough to cover my pubic area entirely. When I finally decided to take the weight off the apron would get sores underneath it and sometimes the skin would break at the crease underneath. There were days I was too uncomfortable to exercise. Needless to say my self esteem and physical life have been severely impacted for years. I never really even realized the extent of the impact until after the surgery. I am so glad I went and had it done. Before the surgery I thought at times that I was crazy for doing it that I had lived this long this way, I should just accept it but I see now that would have been the biggest mistake I could have ever made. The slight back ache I had for years? Gone! Trying to hide behind really big and long shirts? Gone! Not having enough lap for my child to sit on? Gone! My stomach bouncing against my legs as I walked if I didn't have it "contained"? Gone! My fear of someone bumping into my squishy apron and being grossed out? Gone! There are way too many wonderful changes that have happened to list!

It was painful and sometimes still is uncomfortable if I do too much and become swollen. I'm still recovering (about week 6 post-op) but I am telling everyone it is so incredibly worth it! I feel alive and normal for the first time in so long I can't even remember! It's funny to realize when I go to do something now that I had been compensating the way I moved my body to accommodate my hanging stomach. My abs feel incredible! Do what you feel you need to do to take care of yourself and everything else will fall into place. Your pennies are so worth your happiness, health and vitality! You are worth it all! I wish I had before and after pics I could access right now to upload!

My doctor was always very patient, available and he explained everything to me in great detail. He has a very easy to get along with personality. I have felt that I was in good hands from beginning to end. His staff are phenomenal as well! They are so friendly and they seem to truly enjoy their jobs. The facility where his procedures are performed are top notch and that helps you to feel fully at ease.
