Please Read! Please Stay Away from Dr. Tania Medina! Please Do Extensive Research on Her!!!
The first sign that Tania Medina is not a good doctor is that she does not require you to be medically cleared by your own PCP!!! Any board certified doctor requires you to be cleared for surgery by your own doctor! My experience with Tania Medina was a NIGHTMARE! She is not the bubbly friendly person she pretends to be on a Instagram. I arrived to the Dominican Republic for a tummy tuck in July, her office and the clinic was like a meat packing district! Be prepared to wait longggggg periods of time just to have evaluations, on top of her team being highly disorganized and unprofessional.
My stay in the Dominican Republic was 3 weeks, the first week was to “quarantine” then 2 weeks to recover. I did not meet the doctor until the day before my surgery when she told me multiple times I may not get the results I wanted, after telling me through a virtual consultation she was sure she could give me everything I wanted. It is almost as if they say anything to get you into their office, then once you have your procedure they forget about you! I have not heard from her or her team in over a month since my surgery which is mainly the reason I am writing this review. I also want to warn people thinking of having any procedure done with her of my experience. Please keep in mind that they do not use general anesthesia! Which means you are likely to have have complications (I had an anesthesia complication with her).
I stayed at the My Home Care recovery house which was OKAY. The nurses and doctors there are not certified, one mentioned to me that they are doing their residency at the recovery house. The food is not healthy, they should make more soups and serve more fruit and vegetables considering your diet is a major factor in your recovery. There is no AC in the house, only in the rooms which barely works (the house is outdated). Because of covid no one was allowed to leave the recovery house unless you had an appointment, the massages are done in a room in the house. The nurses are very friendly and go around the house in the morning, afternoon, and night to give out medications. The recovery house was booked when I was there and there were a total of 15 women in the house. 5 women at the time that I was there had COMPLICATIONS WITH DR TANIA MEDINA!!!!!!! One woman had a collapsed lung who was in ICU for almost a week. Two women did not have their pain pumps in correctly, leaving them in excruciating pain!! After any procedure they offer you a pain pump for $250 that is placed in your hand veins- it releases pain medication every hour. Imagine not having any pain medication after a procedure because her team does not know how to correctly place them. One woman had burns on her skin from her faja being on too tight with no lipo foam in between. Lastly, I had a complication with anesthesia. The day after my surgery I was in bed at the recovery house when I began to get a horrible migraine! I thought I was dehydrated so I drank as much water as I could and waited a couple of hours. During this time the nurses wanted me to go to the oxygen chambers, I told them I could not even lift my head up off the bed without it pulsing and feeling like my head was going to explode! They kept pressuring me to have the oxygen chamber therapy until I pleaded to them that something was wrong with me I needed help! Finally they rushed me to the clinic to be seen, I cried in pain the entire way from the migraine pain! When I got to the clinic to be seen a woman leaving told me not to worry she had the same thing happen to her and that I would be okay! The doctor took blood from my arm and put it in my spine to stop the pain, THEY SAID I HAD ANESTHESIA GOING TO MY HEAD CAUSING THE MIGRAINE!! This is a common complication with the type of anesthesia they use when the anesthesia leaves the pocket in your spine they create, this is a very outdated type of anesthesia that isn’t used in the U.S! As I was laying there in pain, remember this happened to me the day after my surgery another women comes into the room with the same exact problem, within 4 hrs of me being there they had treated 3 people for the same anesthesia complication, definitely not normal and scary! The entire time I was laying there I was scared for my life and regretting going to the DR for surgery instead of staying in the U.S. I did not trust the doctors there at all, they asked me why I waited so long to be seen, as if it was my fault that I had had the anesthesia complication.
Fast forward to a couple of weeks of recovery, I decided it was time for me to go home because I felt strong enough to travel and I had been SO depressed from the entire experience. I continued my lymphatic massages back in the states and the woman who was doing my massages who has 10 yrs of experience shared more horror stories about Tania Medina that other clients have told her. Some had mentioned waking up during surgery, having scar tissue, and horrible follow up care. I do not understand why some people do not come out about their experiences with her. After my swelling went down entirely I realized that she had not given me the results I wanted, she barely liposuctioned my upper back and arms and did not lipo my armpits at all even though I paid for the extra area. The lady doing my massages said to me all of her patients have given her the same complaint about Tania Medina not lipoing enough fat from upper back and arms, stating that some doctors are scared to because of the veins that are located in that area. On top of not being entirely happy with my arms and upper back she sent me home with clear stitches that were suppose to dissolve on their own, the stitches never dissolved on their own because whoever put them in tied too many knots. My body was trying to heal around the stitches and wouldn’t reject the stitches on its own, I had to pay the lady doing my massages to remove the stitches for me, the doctor and her team never told me if the stitches don’t fall out by a certain time that I should be alarmed. The lady doing my massages then began to compare Medina to Dr Cabral who recently had his license taken away for the amount of deaths he has, she stated to me she is doing massages on his patients and he is still operating in the Cecelip clinic. Medina and Cabral operate in the same clinic but Cabral does not broadcast it because he no longer has a license to operate! The entire clinic is shady and money hungry and has a disregard for human life!
A side note: Tania Medina operated on 5 women the day of my surgery. She claims to only operate on 3 per day but we all sat in the waiting room on that same day confused on why she lied to us about how many operations she was doing in a day! She looked me in the face and told me she was operating 3 people on my surgery date then sat me in a waiting room with 4 other women the day of my surgery!
I have not reached out to Tania Medina because a couple of women who stayed at the recovery house the same time as I did stated that she ignores their messages and haven’t been able to get in touch with her. If you are considering going to her please please please read every review on the internet and not only the ones that her team clearly writes! Please consider a safer doctor, just because she doesn’t have deaths does not mean that she doesn’t have many complications and mal practice! Consider staying in the U.S because it is much SAFER, having surgery is a decision you have to live with for the rest of your life choose a doctor who is trustworthy and used the latest technology! Please invest the money into a good doctor and be weary of Tania Medina!
