Don't Go Here Unless You Want to Have to Spend Thousands More to Have It Fixed.
Let me preface this with the fact that I trusted Dr Perry up until the day after my surgery. His bedside manner had always been kind, until I started questioning his techniques.
From post-op day one, I had a deeply disappointing experience with Dr. Perry. I felt that my concerns about the surgical results were not taken seriously. Whenever I expressed doubts, I was met with comments suggesting that my mindset was the issue, as if I just needed to be happier with the results. I was told to “lower my expectations” and that “if I just relaxed and trusted him,” everything would be fine. He even said, "you'll be able to bounce a quarter off of your stomach when it's done," which raised my hopes.
However, during my post-op visits, I continuously raised concerns about my recovery. Instead of addressing my questions, I was assured that everything was normal and that swelling was to blame. When I told him I still had love handles and grabbable skin, he made me lie down on my back to prove that the surgery was done well. I'm not concerned about what I look like horizontally; I care about how I look while sitting and standing. At one point, Dr. Perry became frustrated and said, “These are the techniques that I use to get the most consistent results with the least amount of risk!" and left the room with me in tears. He never once informed me, from pre-op to post-op, that his techniques would not achieve the results I was seeking.
It became clear something was wrong when my muscle repair started to come undone, and yet again, I was told there was nothing wrong. I sought second and third opinions because I knew my body and what to expect. I even went to a physical therapist who specializes in diastasis recti; all confirmed significant issues, including a four-finger gap. My muscle repair had failed.
I was left with separated muscles, loose skin, day that should have been removed, an un-aesthetic bellybutton, a persistent shelf, a scar that is too high, and even my old belly piercing was left behind, just moved lower— none of which I expected. My measurements remained unchanged, and I still had the same issues I had before. I wanted this surgery to repair my muscles (which caused persistent back pain) and also feel more confident in swimwear and while nude, but I feel let down and frustrated, especially after spending nearly $15,000.
To make matters worse, I was advised that I needed a complete revision, done by a different doctor, which cost an additional $11,000. I invested most of my savings into this surgery, and the thought of undergoing another one was daunting and disheartening.
Throughout the entire healing process I sent emails to Dr Perry. All correspondence in the beginning was answered with arguments that nothing was wrong, and now, more recently, gone ignored.
Overall, I felt unheard and misled throughout this entire process. I cannot recommend Dr. Perry’s practice based on my experience.
