Long Awaited Tummy Tuck

So I have my tummy tuck surgery scheduled for this Friday I’m very excited but nervous also I’m looking forward to the results I know it’s going to take a long time for the swelling to go away as I’ve been reading reviews for a long time now but I can’t wait! One thing I am nervous about I never read on the reviews anyone speaking about the injections that I will have to have after the surgery to reduce my chances of getting a blood clot. I’m going to try to remember to post pictures along my journey so the first picture is just gonna be my before picture and after the surgery I will do follow up pictures.

Congrats on your upcoming procedure! The injections aren't that bad. If you inject into a muscle it will burn a little but it passes quickly. The key or me was to make sure I injected into fat. The needle is really small too so don't worry about that.

1st full day of post op today

Good morning. This will be my 1st full post op day, I had the tummy tuck with a revision t my left breast from my reduction from 2017. Dr. Blanchard had told me do to how big my breast were back then it was hard to get them symmetrical and could/would get them /it revises, and he’d did. yesterday after surgery I felt like a bus hit and dragged me, the pain meds didn’t really seem to help much, I did get up and walk around a few time, I’m taking pain meds every 4 hours as instructed. I was nauseous for a while. I will begin my shots today also. Didn’t sleep much last night, very difficult to sleep on my back. I do have a question for my type team, I know I have to stay slouched over when I walk, but do I need to be slouched over a bit when I’m sleeping also? I also didn’t eat anything but a few crackers, I did drink tons of fluids. I hate to sound negative but just giving my experience feed back. A few good notes I love the nurses and Dr. Blanchard they were great. My 1st nurse had here tummy tuck 7 weeks ago by Dr. Blanchard, she showed me and she looks wonderful. I hope to take pictures today and post. Thanks for all the encouragement, I need it!!!!! Any suggestions on what I should eat today?

I apologize if this is duplicated, I didn’t seem my 1st entry.
Yesterday I had my tummy tuck and left breast reduction revision ( when I had the procedure done in 2017, Dr. Blanchard said since my breast were so large getting them even would be hard, they weren’t that off). Yesterday I felt like I was run over by a bus, with some nausea and lots of pain. The pain meds didn’t seem to work much even though I took them every 4 hours as instructed. I did drink tons of fluids and only ate a few crackers. Any suggestions as to what I should eat today? Today still in a lot of pain, very little sleep it was hard sleeping on my back crouching over. I know I’m supposed to walk crouching over but is it necessary for me to crouch over to sleep too? I have not had a shot yet but will as soon as I finish this, not looking forward to that, I was told it will burn….I did walk around every few hours, that was difficult and very taxing, but will continue. I went to the bathroom a few time but no BM so I wil continue with the stool softener and add the milk of magnesia today. Please send me any suggestions on how to make this a little better .. I will try and post progressive pic later today. I was told I could shower after 24 hours but nervous. Gotta go time for meds and 1st shot ….

Glad you made it! They should have given you instructions on your sleeping position - you want to sleep propped up and knees raised - at about a 45 degree angle. Did they give you anything for the nausea? I hope it has passed for you. About the pain - did you get exparel or a pain pump? Your pain should be readily relieved by the pain meds - if it's not, call your care team and have them adjusted. Be sure you're having no salt crackers - you want to keep your diet low sodium. Try small portions because you do need to help - your diet will contribute to your healing. Try protein shakes if you can't get down anything else. Good luck and happy healing! Also if you inject the needles into fat, it won't burn. It's supposed to go into fat not muscle. I had trouble with grabbing enough leg meat so it would burn me occasionally. Even then it passed quickly. You can do it!

Yes they did give me meds for the nausea it did go away I don’t have much of an appetite over the last couple of days all I’ve eaten is some crackers my mom made me some scrambled eggs and watermelon because she said I won’t be able to have a BM if I don’t put food in in just a few minutes ago I ate some peaches. The injections weren’t bad the first day my mom did it and today I did it myself and I did inject into fat as you said . I am still in a lot of pain but it is a little better and you are correct they did give me sleeping instructions I was just so out of it I didn’t realize but I did sleep with my knees propped and at about a 45° angle. I just took another nausea suppository because I was a little nauseous but it’s gone now the pain is not as excruciating as it was yesterday but it is still there but it is getting better slowly. I’m hoping tomorrow gets even better. I am still getting up to walk every couple of hours thank you for your assistance
