Go Somewhere That Won't Leave You with Visible Vertical Scarring
The staff is really great and, as one of the nurses in the OR told me, Dr. Wages' bedside manner is great. Those are the positives. I've since been to another plastic surgeon who reviewed the work that Dr. Wages did (tummy tuck)-- without knowing who did it-- and was horrified with my results. One thing that they don't mention on this board is that Dr. Wages leaves you with a vertical scar below your belly button, no matter how thin or thick you are. OTHER SURGEONS DO NOT LEAVE YOU WITH THIS VERTICAL, HIGHLY VISIBLE SCAR. When I asked Dr. Wages about it, he made me feel like everyone did the same method. That is entirely false. I'm almost a year post op and still can't wear a two piece because of the scarring-- that I 100% did not have to have, had I gone elsewhere. Also my abdominal muscles were brought together in a completely crooked manner and I now have more back pain than I did previously. My family doctor anticipates that I'll need additional surgery at some point to correct what Dr. Wages did. As one doctor, who knows Dr. Wages well told me, "things aren't always as they seem".
I guess, in short, just do your homework. Office is really nice, staff is great, Dr. Wages comes off really nice. Don't let this be what sells you, like it did me. Results are sloppy and without regard for your long term health. I have 10 times more back pain than I did from my diastasis recti now that my abdominals are mismatched and compressed to the right and whereas I might have worn a two piece before my surgery, now I definitely can't without having to explain what kind of knife fight I was in that left my stomach looking the way it does.
