Ideal Experience As a Patient, Far Exceeded Expectation.

Asking for the specialised skill a plastic surgeon possesses, to improve one of you’re biggest insecurities is an extremely personal and vulnerable experience, as a factor of this, choosing a surgeon that is not only skilled in the necessary sense but also in the values of building trust and compassion was, in my opinion, a necessary part of the experience, particularly given the elective nature of this type of cosmetic surgery, mutual understanding seems a reasonable ask.

Following some less than reassuring consultations, asking some seemingly strange requirements of me (long travel across country right after surgery, only conversing through assistants until the day of surgery, having their assistants imply that in the severity of my case, it was either a friendly surgeon elsewhere -or- a more skilled surgeon) throughout the early year of 2019, I was recommend “The Spire” in Bristol due to their attentive care, by my mother in law. I researched the best consultant for my own needs practicing there, then subsequently first met with Robert in Early November 2019 at 25 years old, with the uneasy perception results like his came at the expense of being treated like a bit of a merit to his time, (while accurately appreciative to the prestige surgical professions dictate should not be the -only- converse during a consultation) which thankfully were completely obliterated.
During the initial consultations following introductory checks of my enquiry he asked about my (then sitting with me prior to COVID restrictions) husband, considering him and his views, got to know our jobs/lifestyles, wants/expectations and I did not feel I was once made to feel any more appreciative of his time than he was of mine.

Following the inevitable cancellation my procedure due to the Pandemic (it was due to go ahead just before lockdown) Robert called himself to cancel and communication was ground to a halt until around mid April this year (2021) as not much could be done for anyone and priorities for the whole world needed to change, given the spire had offered up help to alleviate some of the stress on our National health service, I took some initiative in chasing it up as restrictions lifted to an appropriate degree, mainly to check my information was still in the system as there had been a change in the secretary I had initially spoken to and to get an idea of whether this type of surgery with Mr.Warr would be available at any point in the next few years.

It took a few tries (most likely due to back log as with any service) to get ahold of his lovely assistant Lucy but went smoothly and swiftly following the call back. The actual day was straightforward and every person involved was friendly and informative and seemed to be able to read I was quite nervous and reassured me accordingly. Everyone made sure I was comfortable and happy at every stage in my care.

Aftercare was attentive also , Mr.Warr Came in to check on me the following day and made sure to be there for the wound check the week after alongside the nurse. In terms of the recovery, simple for me as I had only skin removed and no muscle repair, pain was manageable with pretty much OTC painkillers following discharge and the scar was and still is clean and easy to care for and as it stands now at the 7 week mark, is beginning to become hypopigmented and has only a modest amount of swelling to care for left.

All in all, a very non-difficult experience, for a difficult circumstance and I am leagues happier with my personal appearance even with the scar comparatively!
I am blessed to not only be one of few able to have the procedure done right now but to have a really positive memory and association with what by nature is quite a scary surgery for a first timer.

I’m feeling and (if I do say so) looking great! Couldn’t recommend Mr.Warr and the team more. Thank you so much.
