Picture after the stitches spit out
Here is a picture from yesterday, no more dissolvable stitches coming out, trying to heal up.
Spitting stitches ... now resolving!
At the end of July I noticed a red/purple line coming up vertically from my tummy tuck incision. It looked a little inflamed and barely hurt when I pressed on it. My PS started me on antibiotics and we waited to see if the suture would dissolve or work it’s way up and it if my body. I finished the oral antibiotics, kept applying topical antibiotics, and ended up having a day or two where it really hurt a lot, and then it seemed to be getting better. Then I noticed my skin was really thin in that area. Last week, a tiny suture and a tiny amount of blood that had been hanging it from getting poked popped through. The next day I had two larger pieces pop through. Followed by two more the next day, and one more piece the next day. I had waited to see my doctor because I had work and it wasn’t making me worried. So the following day (yesterday) was my scheduled appointment. I went in, he looked around and said it looked like all the pieces in that area had come out. He said to keep applying the ointment and follow up if it gets worse / doesn’t get better. It is looking good. There is a small hole right on the surface of the skin that is trying to heal.
Switched to Spanx and ditched the binder today!
Oh my goodness it has been rough, people don’t lie about emotions going up and down. I have stopped taking Percocet and I am just taking Tylenol throughout the day and Celebrex (an NSAID) once a day. Sometimes I feel like yes I’m going to be able to stand up straight but there is just a couple pieces of my tummy that don’t want to let me and they sure tell me (ouch!) Showers are getting better. Today was a really good day I’d say. I ditched the binder for some spanx on the recommendation of my PS and it actually feels really good! It holds me in, my skin feels less sensitive (My skin is sensitive above and to the sides of my belly button but much better without the binder! My incision line was starting to really hurt from the binder too, and this feels so much more comfortable on my incision line! Ahhhh! I did do more getting out and about yesterday and felt very swollen at the end of the day. But felt much better with less swelling when I woke up in the morning today. Hope all this info helps someone, otherwise it’s a good reminder for me to know I am progressing and doing better each day!
