More Than a Tummy Tuck – I Finally Feel Like Myself Again

I’m currently around 7 weeks post-op following my abdominal surgery at Bella Vou, which included muscle and hernia repair, a tummy tuck and liposuction, and I’m already so pleased with my decision.
After two big pregnancies and significant weight loss, this was never simply about wanting a “flat tummy” for me. I wanted my abdominal wall repaired and my body put back together properly, while still achieving a natural, feminine result.
A very special mention has to go to Dr Rado Bocca. He is an absolute perfectionist, but more than that, he makes you feel as though you are a work of art rather than simply another patient. I genuinely believe this is a calling for him, not just a job. His enthusiasm for what he does, his eye for detail and the pride he takes in creating the best possible result are obvious. You never feel like he is just performing an operation – he is thinking about shape, proportion and the finished result as a whole.
From the beginning I felt listened to. I was very clear about the result I wanted and, equally importantly, what I didn’t want. Dr Rado completely understood that. At my recent follow-up he was really happy with my progress, and although I’m still swollen and very much healing, I can already see such a difference in my waist and overall shape.
The recovery is definitely a journey and I think it’s important to be realistic about that. Swelling can change from morning to evening and there have absolutely been moments where I’ve scrutinised every little thing and wondered what was normal! Whenever I’ve had a genuine concern, though, I’ve felt able to ask questions and get reassurance from the team.
One of the biggest changes for me has actually been psychological. I’m starting to look in the mirror and like what I see rather than immediately focusing on what I dislike. At 43, after two children and everything my body has been through, that feels pretty special.
I know my final result is still months away, but even at this early stage I’m extremely happy with both my care and the result so far. I would absolutely choose Bella Vou – and Dr Rado – again.
Now I just need to learn some patience and stop inspecting my stomach every five minutes!
