I had an abdominoplasty with muscle plication performed by Dr. Mehdi K. Mazaheri in April 2026, and I couldn't be happier with my experience and results.
From my very first consultation, Dr. Mazaheri stood out from the other surgeons I interviewed. He was incredibly thorough, took his time explaining every aspect of the procedure, and encouraged me to ask as many questions as I wanted. His office was also exceptionally responsive whenever I had questions before or after surgery.
One of the things that gave me the most confidence was his commitment to patient safety. I learned there are different board certifications in cosmetic surgery, and choosing a surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery was very important to me. I'm glad I took the time to understand the difference before making my decision.
Dr. Mazaheri also prioritized safety in ways that other surgeons did not. While other consultations suggested I could simply go home after surgery, he required an overnight stay for monitoring. He also placed two drains to support recovery, whereas another surgeon I consulted planned to use only one. These decisions reinforced that his priority was achieving the safest possible outcome, not simply taking the fastest approach.
Another thing that impressed me was his honesty and expertise. Other surgeons recommended adding liposuction, but Dr. Mazaheri told me I didn't need it. He explained that repairing my abdominal muscles with a muscle plication would provide the improvement I was looking for—and he was absolutely right. For years I thought my biggest issue was excess skin, but he identified that I also had diastasis recti, which was a major contributor to my concerns.
With more than 20 years of experience performing these procedures, his expertise was evident throughout the entire process. I always felt safe, respected, and genuinely cared for by Dr. Mazaheri and his entire team.
It's true that his consultation is not free, and his surgical fee was somewhat higher than the other two quotes I received. However, in my experience, it was absolutely worth it. One of the other surgeons I considered did not have ABPS certification, and another did not include overnight postoperative monitoring. Those differences were significant to me, and looking back, I would make the same decision again without hesitation.
