Serious Concerns
I am sharing my experience with Yunus Dogan so other patients can make an informed decision.
I returned for a second surgery to address issues from my first procedure, including a reverse tummy tuck following my original FDL tummy tuck. Before surgery, I was given no proper consultation with Yunus, despite my coordinator assuring me I would have the opportunity to discuss everything with him. This made me extremely uncomfortable, particularly given that I was returning for multiple revisions and corrections.
Unfortunately, I still have a noticeable fat bulge in my upper abdomen after two surgeries. During my first operation, I was told a reverse tummy tuck would fully correct the issue. At my markup, I was told I would need a third or even fourth touch-up. Had I known this from the beginning, I would have sought another surgeon. I was left crying and distressed.
At my follow-up, Yunus apologised for the lack of consultation and acknowledged that I should have received one, but we did not reach an agreement about my abdominal results. I made clear that I did not expect to look like a model but I did expect the skin to be removed after committing to a second surgery (as those results were promised during my first trip).
My concerns extend beyond the cosmetic outcome. After returning home, I discovered I was five weeks pregnant. At six weeks, an ultrasound confirmed that my contraceptive implant was no longer in place following my arm lift. I had not been informed that it was missing or knowingly consented to its removal.
I find it deeply concerning that this was not identified or communicated to me by the surgical team. A proper consultation and discussion of my medical history and existing implant could have provided an opportunity to address this before surgery. Instead, I discovered the situation myself while dealing with an unexpected pregnancy.
I understand that surgery carries risks and that revisions do not always produce perfect results. My concerns are the lack of consultation, ongoing dissatisfaction after two abdominal surgeries, the prospect of further corrective procedures, and the serious questions surrounding my contraceptive implant.
This experience has been physically, financially and emotionally distressing. I returned for further surgery trusting that my concerns would be addressed, but I am still dealing with disappointing results and unresolved questions about communication and patient safety.
I strongly encourage anyone considering surgery to insist on a direct consultation with the surgeon, clarify realistic outcomes and revision expectations, and discuss any existing medical devices before proceeding.
