It's been a year and a half since I had Bellafill...

It's been a year and a half since I had Bellafill injections. The product is uncomfortable, the lumps and bumps do not go away, even though your medical professional will tell you that they will. There is a high potential for random swelling caused by this product... which I do battle the swelling constantly. I hate the swelling... those are the things that are unavoidable and can happen to anyone injected with Bellafill. My other issues include the product being injected directly against a nerve, the product is permanent, I just have to live with that. A common complaint after Bellafill is a loss of contour. Contour is attractive, puffy face is not a look you should be going for.... Bellafill is infamous for "puffy face". When you begin to have problems one of the first treatments will typically be anti- inflammatories and a very strong steroid called Prednisone. Prednisone causes terrible side effects, uncontrollable emotions, severe depression ( and aren't you probably already depressed enough that you paid someone to mess up your face?), weight gain (sometimes permanently), and something called moon face ( that's when your face turn completely round), oh and it can give you a hump on the back of your neck. These steroids are unbelievable in the way that they can alter your personality, so be prepared to sacrifice quality time with the ones you love, they will probably suffer too. Then in the end you will have to taper off of the steroids because you can't stop cold turkey and likely after going through all of this, they won't make a difference at all.
If you decide to use this product you will probably someday ( regardless of if it's days later or years later) be telling yourself this, "At least my lumps aren't noticeable or that noticeable", "at least my reaction wasn't as bad as that other ladies", "at least my face isn't swollen EVERYDAY", "just because I can feel it doesn't mean others can see it", "maybe there will be a safe treatment someday"...
That's if you are luckier than some others who can't even try to convince themselves that it's not visible to others...those people are spending thousands dealing with it and many cannot even afford the treatment.
As you start to research options to have it removed, the least of your worries will be how great you will look after, you will have different goals. Like being comfortable physically, just looking "normal" will be your priority.
You will struggle to accept that you will never be 100% free of this product, nor will you return to the way you looked before Bellafill... once you have this product injected, there's no turning back.
So please don't do it, it's not worth the regret.
The issues do not go away after 5 years, did your doctor tell you about the studies? What has actually happened is that after living with the problem for years, people no longer report them. Most issues are reported within the first year with no follow-up, the study claims these non follow-ups as issues that resolved on their own. Nope, they are still very real.
Don't even book that appointment, if you already have cancel it, then take a deep breath and enjoy knowing that you are safe from this product.

There's no point in adding the name, because this would negatively affect the entire establishment. I'm not sure they deserve this generousity, however I had been receiving services from them for well over 15 years. I really liked the staff before the Bellafill experience. Someone will undoubtedly be tempted to comment that all product issues are caused by the injector. But I was injected by a Bellafill trainer, so forget that theory. This is a false claim that the company who owns Bellafill has carefully established, basically to pre-shame injectors into believing that if something goes wrong it's something they did, not the product. I believe many "professionals" fail to report problems properly for this reason alone. Typically a problem is reported by the patient directly to the injector... so ultimately there's no record. However, i can say that the Bellafill "Expert" who injected me was horrible in the fact that when I told him specifically to leave my chin alone he injected it anyway and ironically this is where my nerve was impacted. So ,yes, an unprofessional injector can certainly add insult to injury. But he was showing off for all the other "medical professionals" in the room observing. I paid for my treatment, actually I still have syringes that are paid for but I will NEVER use. I would rather throw them away and lose money than put anymore Bellafill in my face. I did the alergy test over a month prior, but that day I was weirdly treated like they were giving me a free gift. I still can't believe my clear and acknowleged statement to not inject my chin was so blatantly disregarded... It's sad to me that of the 5 total medical professionals in that room, not one stood up for me when I said specifically, " I DO NOT WANT MY CHIN TO BE MESSED WITH". Horrible feeling knowing that in addition to the issues I have with the areas that I agreed to receiving injections, I suffer even more because of someone's arrogance. So sad that anyone would inject a permanent product in an area a person was saying no to... what a violation!

I had 6 syringes injected in my face 7 months ago and have regretted it from day one. I was told it's the best thing on the market and if I wasn't happy it could be dissolved. I was going on vacation and wanted a fresher look. I stressed heavily that I did NOT want a puffy face. Well you know the rest of the story. I was given my money back but would rather have my face back. I have seen a plastic surgeon twice for bumps and nodules that he injected with steroids and some 5FU??? That is supposed to calm them down. So far that is working but nothing can be done for my lopsided puffy face except a very serious surgery that could leave scars. I am wondering how you are doing now? Any new advice to mention. Oh how I wish I knew about this site before I allowed 'this horrendous product in my face
