almost 7 years straight I nursed my babies. I started BFing in February of 2006 became pregnant in 2007 and breastfed through the entire pregnancy. Then I was nursing both a 2 year old & a newborn. I wiened my first at age 3 and was pregnant again in 2009 (had not quit nursing my 2nd). Gave birth to my 3rd and nursed her for 3yrs. I finally quit nursing in December of 2012. Almost 7 years non stop of breast feeding had turned my puny b cups into magnificent milk filled wonders that made even my perinatologist stutter. But 3 years after stopping breast feeding my wonderous bulbs were limp sacks. Even the African Tribal ladies of National Geographics had better racks than I did. Saggy sheets with stretchmarks. I tried to put them in bras and they would just sit in a gelatinous mass. I hated bra shopping and wasnt thrilled with looking at myself in the mirror. I finally decided that before my big "40" birthday I would get some new boobies. I started my journey with lots of research and multiple consultations. The 1st PS confirmed my fears "YOU MUST HAVE LIFT" he stated. My husband had already said he really didnt want the scars from a lift and I didn't want the extra recovery issues. That surgeon also gave me implants to put in my small existing bra (didnt look right) & suggested a 400cc. I had a little notebook to take notes and he seemed offput by it. "Put that away its distracting he said" He also showed me the keller funnel and explained how he had a quick recovery method. On to the next Doc. This 1 was in a hospital setting. He did not offer before & after photos either online or in office! not 1 pic to see his work! He stated "Im the doctor everyone comes to after the other doctors both em up!" & He said I have positive results without the lift but if I have to stay overnight in the hospital it would be an additional expense! The recommendation was 450cc. The 3rd PS was the same "did you know any MD can be a plastic surgeon ? 1 of our surgeons in town used to be a dentist!" again a 450cc was recommended. My last stop was at Dr. Greg Ratliff. First thing they did was have me change into an oversize sports bra and then let me try on sizers with my shirt over them. How nice! It gave me a lot better idea of what I wanted & by the time I found the 1 I liked it was 590cc! YIKES! That worried me but Dr. Ratliff assured me I wouldn't look like the 1980s version of Dolly P. He also said that for now I didn't need a lift. I mentioned I was worried about the CCs and maybe a 450 would be more suitable (SETUP) without hesitation a 450 would make me look like I have "lil mosquito bites". He was very confident and all of his staff were extremely friendly. I left the consult to mule over my options. 2 weeks later I made my ba appt. with Dr. Ratliff. They set my date for the 23rd of Dec. I told them how worried my hubs was about the 590 CCs (I had went to consult alone) and they were so nice they said I could have a second appt to try on more sizer at my convenience. I didn't go back in for sizing I decided to trust the experience of my surgeon. I began researching all I could. I was nervous about having surgery outside a hospital setting. I found out that his surgery center is an AAAASF certified facility. which = as good as any operating room. I also found out he has over 20years experience in the exact same location (im weary of DRs who move state to state frequently) and while I was waiting for my date. He was named Tulsas best of the best. His office is always full another testament to his quality. I called and asked if they used the "quick recovery" the 1 doc had mentioned. I was told they do use the keller funnel and they want you up on your feet asap. But they didnt upsell it to me like the other doc. I had a telephone pre-op & they called in my meds. I was nervous about only being prescribed prescription strength Ibuprofen for pain~ The morning of the 23rd came quickly. I arrived at the office at 7am I was on the table by 8 and on my way home by 930. The office staff was great and Doctor Ratliff was awesome. I was fitted with a compression bra and a strap to hold the implants down. Recovery has been easier than expected. I didnt even take all the pain pills. Its 2 weeks since my breast augmentation. My body has ate the CCs. If I wouldn't have listened to the wisdom of Doctor Ratliff & went smaller I would be so upset right now. My stretch marks are gone. My husband who had the most fear of all those CCs. is in love. He keeps saying "now thats what I wanted to spend my money on! that size right there!" I can wear all the same shirts just have lots more at the top. I can hide them if I want to but why I?! I would highly recommend.
