I had begun to notice that the skin around my jawline was becoming looser and saggier with each passing month. I don't think I realized the full extent of it until I saw my profile in a candid taken by a co-worker (first before picture).

After consulting multiple plastic surgeons in the Tucson area, each with a different approach to this treatment, I am happy that I chose Dr. Maloney. He was professional, knowledgable, personable, and had an excellent bedside manner. The office is run like a well oiled machine with very little wait time and an excellent staff who make it a point to know you by name, take their time, and are efficient. It's worth noting that many of the staff engaged in patient care have been with Dr. Maloney for 10+ years.  

Dr. Maloney's approach to the procedure was to make the tiniest of incisions under my chin and one behind each ear (each site numbed prior to the incision being made). I experienced zero pain during the actual procedure. He injected a lidocaine solution under the skin and then used a suctioning device to remove the fat in the area along the jawline and a few inches below the jawline. The entire time on the table was about 20 minutes. My chin was wrapped with a compression bandage which I kept on for 2 days and after the procedure. Post procedure pain was minimal and was addressed with non-narcotic medications.  

This is why I decided to use Dr. Maloney instead of the other physicians I consulted with... His approach was minimally invasive, had a better chance of creating the desired result, and had less risk of complications. One plastic surgeon I consulted doesn't do this procedure unless it's done under general anesthesia with a neck lift as well (this isn't worth the risk of general anesthesia for me since it can be preformed in the office with local numbing and I didn't need a neck lift). Another surgeon uses a laser to tighten under the skin which was originally high on my list of wants. During the consultation I saw the results on a few staff members in that office and the laser had created some strictures on the neck where the skin had adhered to the underlying tissue.  

As you can see from the pictures, the outcome was great and everything that I hoped for. A few weeks after the procedure I visited Danielle Moser (also in Dr. Maloney's office) for fillers to enhance my new jawline and create better facial symmetry. I have been seeing her for many years for botox and fillers, she is a "Master Injector" and an absolute expert at creating a natural look and identifying areas that need small corrections to create overall balance. She injected some filler into my chin which balanced my profile, and a full syringe over each cheekbone to restore some volume loss and lift my skin up a bit more which helped to accentuate my new jawline!  

I'm 44 years old and people always ask me how I stay looking so young. I don't hesitate to tell them that I had submental liposuction and show them the pictures that I am sharing here with you. Nobody ever guesses that I have had anything done (even those who have had their own work done), because it isn't overdone. But it has taken years off of my face. I would recommend Dr. Maloney 110%. I have been recommending Danielle to friends and family for years. If you have hesitated to get botox or fillers for fear of looking "overdone", then fear not! Her work is the finest and you will end up looking like a million bucks!
