Want to be healthy again! I love my PS, she was very understanding of my motivation for the explantation. She is the PS that put my 2nd set in about 9 years ago. Hadn't connected the dots with my health issues yet and had the new set put in due to capsular contraction. When I had my lightbulb moment after extensive research I called her, set up a consult and was scheduled for the explantation 3 weeks later. I asked if I'd need a lift but she didn't believe it would be necessary and I would be happy with end result. I see her again on 5-3 for another follow-up. So far so good.

The things I found most helpful prior to explantation were stocking up on groceries, purchasing a wedge pillow from Amazon which I could not have slept without for the first 6 days, a pair of front button short jammies, comfy but safe slippers and the all important mild laxative. I had a general anesthetic, demoral just after the surgery to get me home I live 2 hours away and I had quite a bit of discomfort! After three days of Percocet every 6 hours and a girl can get pretty plugged up. I highly suggest taking one as soon as you get home, even if you don't use any pain meds all the stuff they use on you during the surgery can upset your digestive system. I bet I drank about a gallon of water a day for the first week, seemed thirsty all the time and of course was up and down to pee pretty often but that got my blood flowing :)
My Doc actually sends you home with VitaMedica brand Arnica, which is for bruising, swelling and pain of soft tissue (sublingual) and Bromelain with Quercetin, which has anti-inflammatory properties. Both are Homeopathic and designed to use for recovery. I swear by both and am so glad she likes to incorporate homeopathic medicine with traditional. I am so lucky that I have a mother and father who are so healthy and young at heart (she's 83, he 84), they cared for me for the first 3 days and then my husband was able start 4 days of "vacation" to care for me. Between the 3 of them they got me through the first week which can be very difficult. I love them all so much and appreciate their support, love and delicious soups and other easy to eat treats! Good luck to all who are about to begin their new lives post implant, my girls may be small now but they are soft and all mine!!

Hi birdmadden, When did you have your explantation done? Has it helped with physical health issues?

Hello Explanting Texan, My explantation was on 4-15-2013 :) I didn't notice much improvement with my health issues the first few days, think the pain and my bodies reaction to the surgery...which was to sleep on and off the first 3 days straight, kept me from being able to notice anything. On about day 7 I noticed that my hands, specifically my thumbs weren't in constant pain and my tachycardia and pvc's dropped to maybe once or twice a day, that I noticed anyhow. Prior I could feel every single frickin odd beat or rapid string of heart beats. About day 6 or 7 I hit a couple of days of the "blues", cried at just about anything said or unsaid to me. Thank god that only lasted a couple of days. Today, day 13 is the first day that I woke up feeling energized and GOOD, the soreness is pretty much gone and as soon as I get the bra I ordered from Amazon (Annette Post Surgical Softcup Bra (10618)) I'm hoping I can shed this compression bra!! I'm kinda tall, 5'7" and am long waisted so this bra rides up my armpits and back and is not comfy at all but I feel secure in it. I bought a VC push-up padded bra a couple of days ago and I went from a 36D to a 36B and it was a very good fit. Wore it out to our anniversary dinner and felt feminine again, though I thought I'd tear it off 1/2 way through dinner as I was becoming sore....but did not embarass myself and made it through but was really glad to get home and take it off. I think within another 2 weeks I'll be okay in it on a regular basis, though I've been a die hard sports bra fan for quite sometime so will probably find one that fits well soon too. When do you have your explantation planned for? Much luck :)

That definitely gives me hope that my symptoms may improve after my surgery on May 13th. Only two weeks from tomorrow!! I'm so excited to get these damn toxic bags out of my body and get healthy again!! Thank you so much for sharing your story--it's definitely an inspiration to me and many others.
