How it works
  • Our highly-trained Review Moderation team evaluates all reviews before they're published to ensure they're written by people like you and not a member of a doctor's office.
  • This multi-step process takes up to 24 hours from review submission to publication.
  • Doctors can't pay to have reviews removed or hidden.
  • Reviews are only removed at the reviewer's request or if they violate our Terms of Service.

If you have questions or believe we should re-evaluate a published review, let us know.

My motivation to have the surgery was one my kids...

My motivation to have the surgery was one my kids I wanted to live a longer life and be able to do things with them finally instead of no mommy can't she is tired or fat and I didn't want to give my self insulin. Also I got tired of not ever being able to go shopping cause nothing looked good. I am happy with the weight loss but i wish I knew then what I know know there is a lot of different things that can go wrong within your body after surgery like vitamin deficiency and low potassium I was so sick the first 6 months I couldn't drink the protein shakes all I could was drink crystal light I couldn't keep anything down I was being told I was over eating how was I over eating if I couldn't eat I was ready to reverse the surgery cause if this is how I was gonna feel it wasn't worth it I was finally diagnosed with a potassium deficiency which was causing me to throw up everything that went down after that was taken care off and I was put on potassium I was finally able to to eat but only beef jerky and popcorn yeah not good but I had to eat and I survived I was 284 lbs 5/16/2012 when I went in for surgery today 6/7/2015 I am 160 lbs I can't get under 159lbs which I am ok with that cause I still look good the surgery helps you learn to eat again I do still throw up if I eat to much of certain stuff like pasta and bread and meat I drink a soda a day and water also and that keeps my pouch from expanding and allowing me to put my weight back on I see it this way I went thru hell to get where I am today why would I go ahead and put the weight back on but if I was asked would you go back and do it all over again between being sick for the first 6 months and not know where the chest pains were coming from also no one knew why now that I have losted all the weight Why I was in so much pain all the time finally was sent to a neurologist and finally told I have servere arthritis in my back and hips and palvic bone also have bulging and herniated discs in my neck which I have to have injections every 3 months just so I can move my neck also have neuropathy, fibromyalgia and restless leg syndrome so bad to the point between it all I have came close to using a ax and cutting my legs off when your over weight that's what all the Drs excuses are why your in pain now I am not over weight what's the excuse without my primary care doctor I would probably still be trying to figure out what is wrong. And on top of all that your personality changes and your depressed all time the person you were over weight that happy go lucky I don't care what anyone thinks of me attitude disappears and you have to find your self again. I just want everyone to know my story and my journey thru it all.
