I am so excited to do this! Like everyone else,...
$8,640
I am so excited to do this! Like everyone else, after my son was born 30 yrs ago, I've always hated my stomach. I have the summer off and have the money to do it now! The surgery is scheduled for May 6th at 11:30am. My pre-op is next Monday. I'm currently 5'7 and weigh 177lbs. The extra 40lbs have been gained over the last four years and seems to consume my stomach. I recently had a huge change in my life which has reconnected me to exercise while I focus on loving me again. I eat a very healthy diet and feel this procedure will help lock me into a more active lifestyle and regain my self esteem which took a digger recently. The pictures were taken today and are my personal "before" shots.

Planning my smart recovery!
I am planning to drastically reduce my sodium starting tomorrow. For the next two weeks I'm going to stick with my vegetable and fruit smoothies and basically follow the Zero Belly Diet with fish and lean protein. I will be using a vegetable protein powder as opposed to soy/whey. I'm going to plan out my meals during the first couple weeks of my recovery ahead of time, so that my friend, and then later my son, will follow and not deviate from it. Plus figuring out the meals now gives me something to do since I'm so excited and I have zero patience (saving effort for that during recovery). Only regular water with lemon - as opposed to my ever present seltzer waters. I bought straws to suck down plenty of that water. I read somewhere once that you actually drink more water when you suck from a straw. Note to self: make sure to add fluid intake onto the list for my "caretakers". I think if I give them specific times to come in and make me suck down some fluid then in between that if I'm sucking down fluid then I should stay pretty hydrated.

I bought a big Ole tub of whey protein, but I am not liking how it makes me feel. Where do you find vegetable protein? Is it higher in protein than the whey?

I found the veg protein powder on Amazon. Veg protein is better than soy as soy has been found to aid in belly fat. The book Zero Belly Diet lists this particular protein powder as a good one and I love it. not sure if it's higher in protein. It's not cheap though. I think it was about $40 for the huge tub.

And that pillow...where did you get it from?

April 24, 2015
Hi!
I found it on eBay. They come vacuum packed. I'm not sure now that they are firm enough though. Versatile for sure. Sleeping on it tonight to see. I have a lot of pillows on my bed as is, so hopefully I can make them work.

You will not be disappointed with your surgery and you will be so thrilled once you have done it. My advice to everyone else going through the same process is to clean clean clean and clean before you go in because you won't be able to do that for a while afterwards. I hoovered everywhere I could, pulled beds cupboards etc out to hoover behind them, I also washed my bed sheets on the morning of my admittance as wanted fresh clean sheets to return home to and also did all of my children's bedding to. I just got everything organised before hand that hopefully by the time I can clean again, my place won't have become too dusty etc. I think to have lots of lean protein before surgery is a good idea and to eat quite light the night before. And stock up on oranges once you are back in recovery. They are a godsend. The vitamin C really helps with everything. Also try to eat as clean as you can once you feel up to it. Lots of green tea, maybe lay off of the dairy and just eat as many vitamins, fibre and lean protein as you can. You won't regret it. I think it has helped me a great deal x x x I wi keep checking back

How did your pre-op go??? If you want to exchange numbers....text even....I would be up for that since we are so close to out day!!!!!

That sounds great. I will send you a private message. My post op was good. Before pics were taken, ughhhh BUT, I had the comfort of knowing I wouldn't have all the baggage for long. My caretaker went with me so she would know what to expect and be a second pair of ears so I didn't miss anything. The doctor went over the paperwork, risks, what to expect and even a emotion expectation which mirrored what people say here! He took measurements for my compression garmet that he supplies. What process I will go thru when I first get to the hospital. Very thorough. Last night I had some champagne and officially removed my belly ring. Oddly so, it made me cry. I called my best friend, the caretaker, and she said it was closing one chapter and opening another. I've had that piercing since my early twenties vacationing in key west. Odd.... But I'm fine this morning. I'm impatient by nature so this last stretch is tough.

Not that I like giving advice, and I am just starting the process myself, but please don't use a straw post-op, it causes gas and bloating and according to this site, there is enough of that as it is. Just some food for thought.

I week before tummy tuck. Removed belly ring
I don't look as bloated as my previous pre surgery pics. So this might help my end results. Placed all my menus on index cards for my caretakers sink won't deviate from a super healthy diet during recovery.

Less than a week away from the flat side! :) Excited for you. Are you going to re-pierce your new bb, or have you said 'farewell' to the ring forever?

May 7, 2015
Good question! I might get it re-pierced. But I am fifty (thankfully I don't look fifty) so not sure.

May 8, 2015
I've been debating on whether to pierce mine. Have to get bb revised first, but leaning towards piercing. I don't think age matters at all, if it's something that makes us happy. I turn 40 this year and figure with a fabulous flat tummy....why not! :0)
