I had right breast removal due to cancer in 1999....

I had right breast removal due to cancer in 1999. Then, I had implants in both breasts for reconstruction. Over time, the right implant hardened so much it deformed my right armpit and gave me shoulder pain and limited use. After useless therapy, I had the implant replaced in 2005. It was a different texture of implant supposedly better for this hardening problem. Immediately, it encapsulated, this time in weeks. I continued to have shoulder issues, never mind the unappealing appearance. When I had left breast cancer and removal of breast in 2011 the right capsule was released and reconstruction looked great for 3 weeks. Then, wham, all the issues with the right breast were back. I had a successful left breast recon and never a problem with those implants. My doctor told me the only option was to remove the implant and leave me with a real deformity.
In 2013 I had months of shoulder therapy and my therapist said there was a new technique to release capsules. This was available with Dr. Connall. I called Dr. Connall and we decided, for me, the best option was implant removal and fat transfer. My body would not reject its own tissue. He warned me it was a long process involving multiple surgeries. I hated the loss of my right shoulder, the look of my implant, and I knew no implant was permanent, so I opted for removal and fat transfer. I was so impressed and pleased with Dr. Connall and his staff that this long road was not an ordeal. I even miss them. I am thrilled with my right shoulder and while no recon gives back a breast, I don't hate it like I did the deforming implant I had. I kinda like it. It's my own body, and it's permanent.

I have been to a lot of hospitals and doctors and he and his staff are the best. First, was the amount of time he gave me to explain my options. We talked on the phone for an hour before I even made an appointment. I had complete trust in him, his staff, and his surgical center. I am seventy years old with many surgical procedures in several locations. I don't think I would be as comfortable at other offices and hospitals now that I have experienced Dr. Connall's level of care. It is enlightening to see what really great care is. You are in the most professional, skilled, and careful hands when you are with Dr. Connall and his entire staff.
