Dr. Toothless instructed me to use AcceleDent and change trays every 10 days for now. When I come in to get my next batch, 5th through 9th, he'll see how AcceleDent is working and decide if I should reduce the duration.

I've been using AcceleDent for 3 days now, 20 mins every night. I usually watch something while having the AcceleDent working so time flies faster. I drool a bit but it's OK. The trick is to get the biting technique just right. You don't want to bite on the mouth piece too firm, just enough to hold it in your mouth so that you can feel the vibration working. The device vibrates three times half way to let you know that it's been 10 minutes. You can also connect it to your computer and pull up the FastTrac report to see how many days of treatment and total minutes that you've done. There are also other info like average usage, battery life, treatment table/graph etc. for your reference.

My teeth don't hurt/ache or anything at all now. I can't tell if it's the AcceleDent or it's just me getting used to it. Honestly my first two days of Invisalign + attachments, it hurt so much I had to pop 8 pills (yes people, directions said 6 only for every 24 hours but I couldn't help it, and plus I don't do it often). I guess we'll know more about the pain when I change to the second set...

Also, I basically have no "Invisalign diet" or "Invisalign routine". The only thing I do differently from my pre-Invisalign daily routine is I brush and floss my teeth religiously.

I will try to take and post a pic for every new set of trays. So here we go 1st set and a pic of the AcceleDent Aura. :)

I decided to go with AcceleDent!

So I paid Dr. Toothless a visit today and decided to proceed with AcceleDent. Couple of reasons:

1/ I've read reviews about people using AcceleDent and found that it helped alleviate the pain during the first few days of switching new Invisalign trays.

2/ My total Invisalign treatment is 12 months currently, give or take, and I have a feeling it might drag out (refinement, things just happen, etc.) That means I won't be done until Nov 2015 at least, since I just started a few days ago. With that being said, I would very much want to be done with these lovely trays by June, for personal reasons and AcceleDent is a perfect aid to make that happen.

I've got the AcceleDent with me right now but won't be starting until tomorrow -- it must be charged over night according to the instructions. I'm overwhelmingly excited to start using it soon... Dr. Toothless mentioned one of his (testing) patients got her treatment down to every 4 days (of switching new Invisalign trays) now. That's super incredible. Honestly, I don't expect mine to be like that since it's case by case. Switching trays every 7 days will make me a happy camper already.

Also, for those who are interested in pricing, Dr. Toothless was very nice and offered it at cost, since he's testing it out and I'm one of the first few guinea pigs. I've read about people paying anywhere between $1,000 and $1,600. Mine was $750. Still a lot, but very much worth it if it delivers what it's promised.

Few teasers for now... I'll update more pics soon, the AcceleDent device is being charged at the moment!

Great price!

Initially started with limited braces (6 teeth)...

Initially started with limited braces (6 teeth) for three months in July 2014. Did my Invisalign scan in Oct 2014 and was wearing retainer while waiting for the trays to come in. Just started the process in beginning Nov, total of 24 pairs to go. With that being said, I went and am going through both processes relatively recently. Hopefully will be able to provide you all with a clear picture (and comparison) of what to expect. Results are TBD.

Hi and welcome to the community!  I have never heard of limited braces, unless it's just regular braces that aren't on all your teeth.  Wondering why you'd start with limited and then move to such a long Invisalign treatment.  Very curious!  And also, is your doctor's name really Toothless? :)

I look forward to following your progress!
Ah, first comment! Thank you for your warm welcome! I'm indeed very excited toward this journey to having a beautiful smile. You were right about the limited braces, it's just regular braces but only on 6 teeth and for only 3 months. The reason we went ahead with this before the Invisalign was because two of my lower jaw teeth (bicuspids) are more rounded so they rotated more than the others. We were concerned that Invisalign might not be able to perform its best on those so we proceeded with limited braces first. Dr. Toothless called it limited braces so I just went with him haha! About the 12-month treatment, I'm not sure why it's so long to be honest. I was hoping to be done a lot earlier than that... I didn't ask Dr. Toothless about this since I trust that he knows what he's doing better than I do, or else I could have been my own Dr. Toothless. :D About my orthodontist's name, Dr. Toothless is his real name!!! I kid! Just out of privacy concern, both for my orthodontist and myself, I decided to pick a nickname for him. Please bear with me.

I understand much better now.  I thought the limited braces were because you guys thought that might fix the issue, but then you decided to go with Invisalign instead.  It's not very common, but I have definitely seen several cases where braces are used either before or after Invisalign for tough rotation and stubborn teeth.  In that case, the longer Invisalign treatment makes perfect sense!

A lot of doctors would love to have a great review here on RealSelf, but protecting your own privacy is very important.  You didn't have to put a doctor's name at all, you know :).  And we can even remove it.  There is no required information for your review other than a title and some content :D.

And by the way, it's not obvious right now because of a bug, but I'm actually a Community Manager, so if you ever need help with the site or anything, please do let me know! :):)
