Traumatizing Rhinoplasty, Lacking Long-term Results
I received a rhinoplasty from Dr. Langsdon at 19 years old in 2023. My main concerns were a large dorsal hump and drooping tip.
The experience:
Dr. Langsdon was initially very warm and gentle during consultation. He assured me my problems were completely and easily fixable and that he could give me a beautiful result.
The problem came the day of surgery. Twilight sedation was used, which is an anaesthetic which does not completely put you under but one that, given the correct dosage, can render you unable to remember what occurred while on it. Unfortunately, I remembered.
I have flashes of memory. A chisel ramming into my face. It was not painful but I could feel it. Dr. Langsdon yelling at me repeatedly to be still. Confusion followed by more exasperated yelling. More ramming into my face over and over and over. Nurses holding me still. That’s it.
After the surgery, all of the nurses were as sticky sweet as before. Dr. Langsdon’s mild demeanor returned. Unsure if I had been imagining things and still afraid of him, I didn’t bring the events of the operating room up. My body, however, still reacted to him getting near me. I repeatedly flinched when he went to touch my nose and his exasperation came back: “I’m not gonna hurt ya,” he sighed, shooting a disapproving look.
The results: 2 years on, I am in need of a revision. My nasal bones have separated where the dorsal hump was removed, leading to an inverted v deformity. My tip has dropped back down and results continue to get worse as time goes on. I brought up concerns initially a year or so after the surgery when I realized my issues were not just post-surgery swelling and he said, and I quote: “We got an A minus result. If we try to touch it anymore, we will be left with a C or D result.”
I do not recommend the Langsdon clinic for rhinoplasty surgery.
