How it works
- Our highly-trained Review Moderation team evaluates all reviews before they're published to ensure they're written by people like you and not a member of a doctor's office.
- This multi-step process takes up to 24 hours from review submission to publication.
- Doctors can't pay to have reviews removed or hidden.
- Reviews are only removed at the reviewer's request or if they violate our Terms of Service.
If you have questions or believe we should re-evaluate a published review, let us know.

Top Surgery After Breast Reduction (27)
After a year and a bit of waiting, we've only one month left to go. It's time to document.
Background:
I had a prior breast reduction with Dr. Lam in late 2018 (documented on my previous review) and have returned to his surgery rooms at Cranford House to finally have top surgery. I was mostly closeted at the time of my reduction and I chose him to do my surgery specifically because I knew he also specialised in top surgery, and if/when I was ready to take that extra step, I would return.
I've now returned, and after fourteen grueling months of waiting, elective surgery postponements due to COVID, waiting, general stress and also more waiting, I'm thirty days out. Excited doesn't even begin to describe it.
Reduction:
Comparing my previous updates and old pictures, I'm older, hairier and heavier than I was (thank you, blessed testosterone) - but the results are still the same. My t-anchor scars have healed nicely, the small scar where my drains were inserted is minimal, and any off-colouring around the nipple / scars is due to a recent flare-up of eczema. If I were cis, I'd be extremely happy with my reduction.
Top Surgery:
Going in with a prior surgical experience has been ideal for both myself and for Dr. Lam. While definitely not recommended for everyone to follow this surgical path, it has worked well for my own transition and sense of self well-being, and Dr. Lam has a prior familiarity with my scars, how I recovered from last time, etc. Walking into his office for the initial consult, it felt that we were both immediately on the same page for what to expect, what to do, etc. It also wasn't necessary per se, but it was extremely affirming and humbling to hear his sincerity about my transition progressing well and him feeling privileged to have been involved in two distinct stages of my journey. (Bless, omg.)
I'm getting a bilateral subcutaneous mastectomy with free nipple grafts, which has a similar medically indicated time, surgical process, healing time, etc. to the reduction. The main difference is that the drains will be in for longer (one week instead of three days), and I'll be wearing a post-op binder instead of using Hypafix. As far as scarring goes, he says he'll be able to 'fold' the new top surgery scars into my existing ones and there shouldn't be any major issues I was stressing about (e.g. minimal dog ears, scar healing, etc.)
I've purchased the two post-op binders he recommended (Marena Recovery, Size S), am finalising the payments today, and then just laying low and avoiding being a COVID close contact until it's time to go into hospital. Bring it on!
