So I booked a second consult with Mr Lahoud in Sat and took my husband with me, just so he was comfortable with my decision. I'm so glad I did, as it gave me the opportunity to go through what my expectations were and what Mr Lahoud could do. The good thing is that he is completely realistic, he can tell you what he can and can't do. I asked whether the length of my nose would change (as I forgot to ask at my first consult on 11th Aug) - he said no. I have a good under nose /upper lip angle and that would remain the same, which I was happy with. All in all it was great to have a final run through and have him check me again as surgery was two days away!! Walked away feeling confident that I was in good hands, nerves have gone down greatly!

The Big Day!

So I had my surgery on Monday. Ever since I was little I was always self conscious about my nose. I had unfortunately inherited my fathers wide and bulbous nose. I always thought it dominated my face and wanted it to be thinner and more in line with the rest of my features.
I went in at 9.30am was settled in, forms signed and changed into the fetching gown and pants! A hour later i was seen by Mr Lahoud, who went over the procedure and signed off some forms, followed by the anaesthetist who went through what was going to happen and asked about previous ops. By 12.30pm I was in surgery.
After the surgery all I could remember was trying to open my eyes but my vision being blurred. I was shaking like crazy due to the anaesthetic. It lasted around half an hour, I think. The nurse came in and put an ice pack on my forehead to reduce swelling. I had also been taking arnica for a week prior to the op.
For the rest of the day I was really drowsy, for tea I had ordered soft brown chicken sandwich, I ate a little. Taking small bites. My husband brought in a yoghurt which was a welcomed relief! As was the pineapple juice. My throat and lips were super dry. Later on I had ordered jacket potato with cheese and beans. Soft food is definitely advised for the first couple of days.
The whole night I kept waking up every two hours with extremely dry lips and mouth, I kept wetting my lips with water. I went home the following morning after the nurse changed my strip, which had a little oozing, and cleaned my top lip with saline solution and reapplied the dressing, showing me how to do it at home. Tape, saline, sterile bowl and wipes were also given to cover me for the next few days. All in all the nurses and care staff were wonderful, very caring and informative. Photos will be up soon!
