In April of 2015 I underwent rhino-septoplasty surgery at Dr. Cory Torgerson's clinic in Yorkville, Toronto.
The initial consultation process and resultant recommended procedure were efficient and professional, while still maintaining and overall air of friendliness and informality. I appreciated Dr Torgerson's pragmatic and honest approach whereby he recommended surgery only where it was subtle, yet achieving noticeable improvements which were in harmony and symmetry with my own specific facial features. This is a most welcome approach when all too often one sees the consequences of excessive rhinoplasty that results in an inappropriately small and pinched nose (think Michael Jackson!). At no time during the consultation did I feel pressured into having surgery, and was always under the impression that I could take my time to decide if and when to have the procedure.
On the technology side, I was impressed with the use of 3-D imaging in facilitating the consultation process. This was particularly useful in providing me with 3-D visualizations of before and prospective post-surgery images of my nasal profile. In addition – and to help me with deciding whether or not to go through with the surgery – Dr Torgerson sent me these images via email and in a format that enabled me to view and rotate them at my leisure using standard software.
In addition to the cosmetic rhinoplasy I also sought advice on correcting a deviated septum which had hitherto given me trouble with breathing and congestion. At Dr torgerson's advice, I then elected to combine the two procedures. In terms of price, having done my own research I concluded that Dr Torgerson's quote was more than reasonable, with several financing options readily available.
The surgery itself lasted about three hours, and so having gone in to theatre at about 8 in the morning I was home by lunchtime. As with the consultation process, the surgery was efficient and seamless, while the staff members were friendly and accommodating.
The first week after surgery was indeed quite uncomfortable, as expected, largely due to my nose being virtually completely congested. However, I did not experience excessive swelling or pain, and the usual "twin black eyes" faded within a week. After six days I had most of the stitches removed, together with the internal swabs and mucus: being able to breathe clearly after a weak was not only an enormous relief, but also a revelation as to what a difference the correction to my septum had made. I had not expected such an immediate result. Although there was still external swelling to my nose, there was still nonetheless an immediate improvement to the overall shape.
Almost four months into convalescence, and still incremental improvements to my profile. I still have some swelling at the tip, but overall most of the swelling has subsided. One important observation to those considering rhinoplasy: it will take several months before your nose starts to feel normal (as in: soft – not wooden and immobile!), while I believe it takes up to a year for the final shape to stabilize.
In terms of the follow up sessions with Dr Torgerson, these have come at regular intervals, and always with the expected degree of professionalism, accommodation and friendliness.
In summary I would strongly recommend Dr Torgerson's Clinic to anyone in the Greater Toronto Area, whether you seeking only a consultation with no commitment, or whether you are fully intent on having a full surgical procedure.

I found that Dr Cory Torgerson strikes the perfect balance between medical professionalism and empathetic pragmatism. Overall, his obvious skill and expertise are complimented by a genuine empathy, friendliness and attentiveness to his patients. In terms of his approach to surgery, I appreciated his focus on achieving facial symmetry and harmony through surgery which is subtle and not excessive.
