Hello,
I have decided to write this review as this website has helped through all the lows and downs of my Rhinoplasty journey. Just when I was ready to give up I always found hope in everyone's experiences and courage. It is wonderful to share thoughts with people who know exactly what I am going through.
My Rhinoplasty journey started in 2008 when I had my first produce, my parents paid for it and they were as excited as I was. The results came in and even though they were not horrible the doctor had done a very poor job refining my nose. I had a hump and a droopy nose, the doctor shaved down the hump and lifted the tip but did nothing else which left me with an unrefined wider nose. At the time it wasn't the end of the world to me and I was willing to make peace with it. Around four months into my recovery I got a blow to the face that broke my nose, from there my nose looked even wider, and more crooked. People used to ask me if there was something wrong with my nose all the time.
Around that time my father got ill and the entire family was busy with that where I didn't really have much time to think about anything else, but my nose was still my biggest insecurity.
In 2013, my family doctor referred me to a local Dr where I live because of my breathing problems and he said that he can fix my nose and it would be covered by OHIP as well as my nose was clearly broken and was in need to reconstructive surgery. He kept saying that he doesn't know what he can do until he got in there but I told him that I wanted a normal looking nose. He insisted he needed rib graft to do the job and I agreed. The morning of my surgery, I knew I shouldn't have done it the moment the Dr walked in to greet me and he asked me what we were doing again! I thought oh dear he is not prepared at all, but I still went for it. That I have to say was the biggest mistake of my life.
When I woke up from surgery, the bruising was horrific. My eyes where closed shut, they tear for 3 days straight as they were traumatized. I can right away tell that something was wrong. I couldn’t feel my cheeks and upper lip are, they were completely numb & swollen. When the cast came off, I could see this long upturned nose that was completely warped. My nasal bones were uneven and worst of all my entire facial movement had changed. I knew that he placed a large piece of Rib graft down the center of my nose, as it seemed like my smile, the way I talked, and the way my cheeks moved were all affected by it. I felt like I did not only get an ugly crooked nose again, but I lost who I was with the lost of my facial expressions. It took a full 11 months before the feeling came back in my lips, my eyes spasms continued for 2 full years. Those two issues alone where enough to drive me crazy. The eye spasms made me look like a retard as one eye was half closed and the other was wide open with my eye brow up high. I lost my self esteem and went into a stage of depression. I had given up hope that I can ever fix what he had done; unfortunately, I got no support from family or friends. I felt like they almost blamed me for what I was in as I was the one who did it to myself.
Early this year, I decided to take control and work on bettering my appearance. I decided that I cannot go on living my life like this, I am only 27! I started by getting braces and addressing my weak chin with my Orthodontist. When I started to look at chin implant Dr’s I came across a few websites that had amazing nose revision before and afters. Coming here also had some amazing examples of some bad cases that were fixed. At that point I was dead set on getting a Rhinoplasty revision by a specialist that knew what they were doing. I did my research and realized that my mistake the first two times was not going to a nasal specialist. I met my Dr and felt like he knew what he was doing. He pointed out all the things that were wrong with my nose before I even started talking. He was realistic, honest and most importantly conservative in his approach. He had the most natural before and after pictures which is really what I want. For my nose to not look like it was ever touched.

Day 06

Rada88
Today marks day 06 post op and oh dear I forgot how difficult the recovery can be!
The surgery went well, my doctor came out and checked on me after. He said that my surgery went well but I should expect some major swelling. He took the piece of Rib graft out which was down the middle of my nose, he said that it was the cause of many of my nasal deformities. I hope now that it is out my face can heal back to its normal functions. The Dr said that he used some pieces of it to refine my nasal tip. The per-longed swelling is going to be due to my thick skin and scar tissue from all my previous surgeries. My nose is very big and painful right now. I cannot breath through my nose at all even though there was no packing used. I have braces and between the mouth breathing, the swelling and everything else the inside gums of my mouth has all the metal parts deeply imprinted on them, very painful!!
Right after surgery the first thing I did was touch my face, lips, and chin; thankfully I have full feeling everywhere!! Losing sensation was one of my biggest worries going into this. I had zero brushing the first day but then day 2 & 3 were pretty bad swelling wise. My chin is quite swollen as well, my profile view looks great but I am a little concerned about my front view: it looks quite crooked to me. I know it is too early to be concerned as there is a lot of swelling present, but I hope it evens out nicely.
My cast comes off Friday and I am trying to prepare myself emotionally for all the swelling!! I know how disappointing and discouraging it can be to see a big swollen nose right after cast removal. Many get to see a compressed version of their nose right after surgery, I cannot say that I have experienced that my first two times and it doesn't look like I will this time either.
Below all the swelling and cast my nose looks straight! Fingers crossed it will have a good shape and I can put all my fears and worries to rest.

good luck with healing. i hope it is everything you want!

I can relate to your nightmare, not recognizing yourself after a dr imposes his own ideas on your face will drive you to depression. However there is always a light at the end of the tunnel, I pray that you are happy with this last surgery and you can truly live life again. Eat well, keep icing and take your vitamins,

Thank you! I'm sorry to hear about your bad experience. Have you found a dr that can fix your nose?

I know how you feel been there myself. I hope your recovery is fast and you get the nose you've always wanted.

Thank you! How much of a size change did you notice in the size of your nose after your revisions? Did the cortisone shots help?

It has been fluctuating a lot. I'm 21 months post revision and the tip is still not refined. The shots seem to help at the biginning but then my nose reverts back to being bulbous.

Cast Came off

Rada88
My cast came off yesterday, sadly I cannot be excited yet as my nose is extremely swollen. My nasal bones is the only this I can judge, which appears nice and even now. My nose is closer to my face and not as upturned. Otherwise my nose and tip are so swollen the tip looks like a little ball stuck on my face. My doctor said that my skin thickness and amount of tip work he did is contributing to the swelling and assured me it will look a lot better but I have wait for a long time.
I keep trying to tell myself not to panic yet, but it is very difficult. My swelling seems to be bigger than any pictures I have seen on this site, most people will have a half decent swollen result after cast off while I cannot even tell what my nose is going to look like.
My doctor said he will be give me a cortisone injection at the two month mark to help resolve the swelling a little faster. After my last surgery I had massive swelling as well but a good amount of it resolved within the two weeks. I pray that my nose will start shrinking soon.
One thing my doctor mentioned when I asked him more about the rib graft that was in my nose is that a metal wire was used to secure it to my facial bones!! Apparently that is not uncommon, I think it is ridicules for a dr to suggest rib graft in the center of a nose without mentioning this, I would have never agreed to it. No wonder my entire facial movement changed after as my nose would not move up normally when I talked and smiled. So far My facial movements are still stiff because of the nasal swelling but I can already tell that my smile has improved and once my nose is fully healed I hope I will have my old wide smile with teeth back.
I will hold off on posting pictures for a few more weeks until some of the swelling is down.

Thank you! I hope it will I just have to be very patient
December 20, 2015
I'm sorry for what you have been through. Everything will be better soon, You have an extra swelling because it's your 3rd rhino, don't worry.
December 20, 2015
Thank you, I am trying to keep my spirits up and not look in the mirror
December 20, 2015
Hey Rada, how is it looking now? I have my revision surgery in a few days and am nervous about the swelling (amongst other things)! I'll ask have a lot of tip work done. I hope it's improving for you and that you get the result you want. Are you keeping a low sodium diet?
December 20, 2015
I'm eating no sodium at all, but the amount of swelling is still the same, I know I am only 10 days post op so it is too early and the swelling will probably take at least 3 months to start getting noticeably better. It is very hard to tell how it is going to look. I know it will go down I just don't know by how much yet. I will keep updating my progress
December 20, 2015
Best of luck with your surgery, I hope you will get the results you are hoping for.
December 20, 2015
Thank you! Hope you do as well :)
December 20, 2015
I wish you the best! I completely understand how you feel cause I feel the same way but I still don't have the courage to get revision surgery. Anyway, I hope it looks the way you want it to look. Be positive! Can you tell me who performed your surgery?
December 21, 2015
Thank you! Dr Rival in Toronto is my surgeon. He is a very good Rhinoplasty dr. My nose was very complicated to begin with so I did not really expect a perfect nose. I'm just praying that the swelling will go down significantly for me and my nose will be a normal size. I'm sorry to hear that you had a bad experience, it is not easy and I hope one day you will gain your confidence back.
December 21, 2015
Keep us posted :) please!
December 21, 2015
I just had my 3rd rhino too. Only 12 days post op. I'm from toronto but travelled for my surgery. I'm
Not liking my nose at this point but I know it's way too early. Just hard waiting. Need to remind myself that Because I've had 3 I will be more swollen. I also has sliding genioplasty and a lip lift.
December 21, 2015
I hope you will heal well and get the result you are hoping for. I was okay with the width of my nose even thought it was not refined because I have had that all my life. My dr Said he was going to refine it more so it looks better and I thought great! but when the cast came off my size of my tip is scary! I donno how much of it is swelling, My nose does feel very swollen to the touch. I am praying it will go down. even if it ends up like it was before I will be more than happy with that. My nose does look a lot straighter and with the same size tip it will be fine. did you notice your nose looks much bigger to?
December 21, 2015
my nose just looks weird. yes its swollen and just odd at the tip at the moment.
December 21, 2015
is this your 3rd open? mine were all open as well.
December 21, 2015
i had someone email me from my dr to say she was unhappy at first two but it got a tonne better with time. so i am hoping and praying for this for the both of us!
December 21, 2015
My surgeries were all open and I have very thick skin which I hate as it will hide my results for a long time. So many report that once the swelling goes down they are much happier so i will pray as well that we will both heal well and be happy at the end. Please keep in touch :)
December 22, 2015
i will pray for you too.
