Hello!
It has been a while since my last review, and now I’m back. I’m presently part way through my veeneer journey and I want to share my experience with you.
I hope this helps!
I researched countless dental providers and reviews before narrowing down my options to two. I consulted with both, and decided to go forward with the more experienced dentist.
My natural teeth were not horrible - however they weren’t as white as I would like. They protruded slightly and one of my front teeth overlapped the other a bit. So, I had two options - 6 months of Invisalign + permanent retainer, or veneers. Obviously I went for the latter.
Prep
My prep was about 2.5 hours. I reccomend that you bring a podcast or some music with you because you won’t be in a position to look at your phone. The appointment is a lot of sitting around listening to your teeth getting drilled, it’s nice to have a distraction.
To begin the process, I was given a topical anaesthetic on my gums followed by MANY freezing needles. The first needle hurt, the rest were painless.
While the dentist was drilling, I didn’t feel anything at all.
When that was complete, he took 3-4 impressions of my teeth and that was my least favourite part. The smell and taste is horrible, plus the feeling of the cold moods going on your teeth is super gross!!
I was so thankful to finally get out of the chair and be able to go home.
My temporary veneers are as white as they come, however this is not the same shade as the final veneers will be.
The temporaries are not perfect, however they serve their purpose as a protector for my newly shaved down teeth. If I look hard enough, I can see the colour of my natural teeth through the temporaries. The final veneers will be more opaque.
Week 1
The next day my lips were so swollen (from the needles, I assume)? All of the swelling subsided by day 3.
I have not been able to eat anything except for oatmeal and scrambled eggs because I was told not to eat anything hard or chew with my front teeth. I have had a few close calls eating foods that require some chewing, so I am going to play it safe and do a no-chew diet for the next week.
I have moderate pain in my gums and jaw. I take one Advil in the morning and one at night to ease the discomfort.
Can’t wait until these bulky temporaries are off!
I will update soon with more photos and details x

Good News + Bad News

The Good: I’ve been worrying about the pain in my teeth lately, and thought something was wrong. I phoned my dentist about my aching teeth and he told me that it is normal. The temporaries are tight over my teeth, which is causing the pain. I can control the pain with Asprin, so I just need to make sure I take them at the right time (Morning and night) so I am not in agony!

The Bad: I got a call today from the dentist. Apparently the lab creating my veneers needs an extra week. That means one extra week with these annoying, tight temporaries. I am so disappointed! The only upside to this, is that the temps definitely look better than my original teeth, so I still feel confident smiling and showing them off!

Embarrassing post: my post-prep swelling

The day after my prep appointment, my mouth was so swollen all the way up to my cheeks. When I smiled, my teeth were hidden behind my huge top lip.
The swelling lasted about 24-30 hours and then went back to normal. There was no pain, however my gums were a bit tender when I pressed on the injection sites.

This was definitely an unexpected side effect for me, but I thought I would share this embarrassing update for you!
