I found Dr. Dupere using this website, and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I'm 33, and have previously had the Nuss surgery to correct my concave chest. Unfortunately the Nuss surgery wasn't that successful and I was left with a somewhat significant "gap" in my chest that just looked funny and that i wanted corrected. I didn't want to have the Nuss bar installed again as it was major surgery with a long recovery time so I went the route of looking for a Doctor that specializes in Male pectoral surgery. I live in Vancouver Canada, so there was some travel involved to Toronto but was well worth it! You can not put a price on quality!

I first met with Dr. Dupere in October where we were discussed options and what was involved with the procedure. This was a great information session where I met Dr. Dupere and his wonderful and lovely staff answered all my questions. After discussing my options with the Doctor I went ahead and we were able to make the cast of mold for the implant right in the office (huge time savings). We then made an appointment for 8 weeks later and surgery was set for the 2nd week of December.

The surgery itself was good (well as good as surgery can be). Again the staff at the surgical clinic were beyond fantastic (the nurses on duty were really friendly) and they put me at ease. The pain after surgery was manageable but i was pretty much out of commission for the following week. It was a good excuse to get caught up on Netflix! I was able to walk short distances (to pick up food); but was not feeling 100% for the first week. I wore a compression garment for 3 weeks, and while this isn't the most fun - you don't really notice it after wearing it for a few days. The biggest challenge in the first week post surgery was falling asleep as I am a side sleeping and needed to sleep on my back. After 3 weeks I was pretty much back to normal. There is some swelling still around where the incision was made, but this is totally normal and will normalize within 6 months to a year.
It has now been two months and I feel great. There is no pain around where the incision was made (just a scar that will go away with time), and my chest looks normal and you can not tell there is any sort of implant there.
I am very pleased with my surgery, and would recommend Dr. Dupere with anyone who has Pectus and is looking for some less invasive surgery to Nuss. My only regret is that i didn't have this surgery years ago!!
Thank-you very much Dr. Dupere and his wonderful staff!
