Dr. Kris Conrad or Dr. Oakley Smith in Toronto (For Rhinoplasty) - Thoughts Anyone? Toronto, ON

$9,000
I am going to be meeting with both doctors for a consultation in the very near future. I already consulted with Dr. Conrad 10 years ago and found him to be very pleasant and helpful. He quoted me $10,000 for the primary rhinoplasty that I wanted done (and this was ten years ago). So I'm a bit nervous as to what his price will be now, ten years later. On Dr. Oakley Smith's website he says that rhinoplasties start at $9,000, but when I called and listened to the introductory message to potential patients at his office, the message indicated that rhinoplasty starts at $7,000, so I'm a bit confused. I have done a lot of research and discovered that these two doctors are considered 'the best.' Has any one had rhinoplasty with either surgeon? Can you offer me any advice or thoughts on who you think is the better choice? I know that everyone has different opinions, but I'm just really torn about who might be the best choice. Feedback is really appreciated!!

I'm so glad you started your story on RealSelf. You can see Dr. Conrad's RealSelf profile page here (where a handful of reviews are listed). Dr. Smith's page is here (with several reviews also). Please keep us posted on how this all goes for you!
Thanks so much. I will do that!
Hi. I can't be of much help but I'm in here looking, as you are. I noticed very few responses and just wanted to let you know I'm in the same boat. I had a quote from 3 years ago that increased by 1500$ if that gives you any perspective. I'm reading up on several drs and this site is pretty helpful but not exhaustive. I got some good advice here tiday though, to ask a local cosmetic office or spa type place who they thought was best. Or your own dr. Cause they are familiar with results too.
Thanks so much for the advice! I have my consult with Dr. Conrad next week, so I will update you on what he says.
Oh yes, do. And I have one with Solomon on Thursday. I'll let you know how it goes. I'm reading all about Hacker now. Let's chat more after our consults!
Okay Great! Yes Solomon is also someone I am considering consulting with. Oh - I have a consult booked with Dr. Oakley Smith and the earliest I can see him is the end of March. I am so frustrated by this: having to wait so damn long for just a consult. UGH.
Oh that is unbelievable. I was texting here earlier and someone replied that it seemed like I was rushing. After 20 years of thinking about it I didn't feel like I was rushing, but I thought about it and it does make sense to slow down and see several docs. I've also communicated with 4 people that very strongly discourage using dr Solomon. It's hard to trust someone with your face. I know every doc has some unhappy patients, but I've texted with ppl who are really unhappy with their experience with him. Very very. Leaves me pretty confused. Anyway, pushing ahead with consults. Wasn't expecting such long wait times to get in for an initial appointment. That pushes things into 2015. Not the plan!!
Yes I know how you feel!! Long wait times was not the plan for me either. Yes - it is hard and confusing to make these decisions. I have heard that Solomon tends to do 'cookie-cutter' noses. Who knows? But then I also have heard bad things about Conrad - and he is supposed to be 'the best.' So I have two consults in one day next week - I see Conrad and then Hacker! Will let you know. Who are you doing consults with??
I have Solomon this week. I plan to get in to see asaria and maybe hacker. But I don't have apts. for those two
Hi me again! How goes the search??
Who did you decide to go with? I am also considering Oakley Smith. I really think he is a true artist. His prices are a bit high but I think he knows what he is doing.
Hello, I had surgery with Dr. Smith in November. So far things are good but I'm still early in the recovery process and I have a lot of swelling so I can't comment on final outcome yet. My situation is also a bit different because I travelled from a western province to have surgery with him so I can't just make an appointment when I'm concerned about healing progress. I have my 3 month appointment coming up soon. My only advice is DO NOT make a decision based on price. I know this is a huge financial commitment but it will be much bigger if you need a revision. So I recommend you go with whoever you feel is most skilled and forget about price.
