I've heard and seen so many horror stories about Micro-blading and I'm not at all surprised. It's very easy to be certified and whether or not the "artist" is talented or not they can tattoo your face. I was very hesitant about micro-blading but I am one of those not talented artist and I failed miserably each time I tried to fill in my brows. I did a heck a lot of research, I was NOT looking for a deal, I was looking for the most talented person I could find. I had discussed it with my husband and he was so concerned, he is plastic surgeon and he sees many woman coming in to have brow tattooing corrected and this is a problem because the laser tattoo machine can damage the hair follicles. After a lot of research and scouring the internet at before and after photos I found Crista Nicole Beauty. I placed a deposit and held my spot (she does have a wait list so book early) and stressed awaiting my appointment. When I first walked in to their beautiful location I was already feeling at ease, what a spot, with a huge picture window looking out to park in downtown Toronto and the patio furniture was perfectly staged like a home and garden magazine. I was greeted by a gorgeous girl Courtnay who is Crista's sister and of course I examined her face to see if she had perfect brows (she had perfect everything - phew) and she introduced me to Crista (she's perfect too - phew again) and I was instantly at ease. She explained to me the procedure, showed me the tools and opened the blade package so I knew it was new and sterile and explained why she like that particular tool. She shared her training experience and asked me what look I was after. I asked for her to chose, being the brow guru of Toronto and she recommended I not go too big and bold seeing as I'm in my 50"s and explained that I could always add on during my touch up if I wanted to go bolder. She also explained since I had a clear mole in the middle of my brown she would not blade over it unless I had a doctors note, so she would go around it. She recommended a very light brown shade to go with my blonde hair, then she CAREFULLY measured and marked my brows and presented me with my template. I didn't have to change a thing, she had drawn on the perfect brows. Next she applied numbing cream which felt like little pin pricks to my brows (it's bizarre, it makes you sneeze) and waited for the numbing to take. She then started the micro-blading in tiny hair like strokes, then wipes away or wipes in dye (wasn't sure) and repeats this until the desired effect is complete. It does not hurt but the wiping part can sting a little, much like a sunburn feeling. When its complete (maybe a few hours in total including consultation and procedure) it looks darker than the final result will be but the shape is there. I loved it instantly, I was so relieved to see she had drawn on my perfect brows, even with them being a little dark. I was provided with after care instructions, no wetting or washing brows for ten days, and no picking or scratching (it gets really itchy). It's definitely a challenge trying to wash your hair without getting your brows wet and honestly I did get them a bit wet a few times, but I blotted them dry and made sure to keep out of the sun. They started to scab and did darken by about day 7 and then on day 10 I washed them and the scabs peeled of to reveal MY PERFECT BROWS. I did go back for my touch up after a month, which is a short appointment and I didn't have any need for changes because they were perfect. I love them so much, my makeup looks better and its so effortless, I only have to fill in the little mole spot and my brows are the perfect shape and the perfect colour. I'm at 7 months now and they are still great. I would recommend micro-blading if done by the right person. My tattoos are perfect little hair strokes that look VERY natural. My advise is that you choose carefully where you decide to go, this is a tattoo in the middle of your face, take it seriously and do your research. I'm so glad I picked the right person to do my micro-blading, it even passed the test of my 22 and 17 year old daughter and my husband - so they must be great.
