I went in to see Dr. Asaria 1 year ago to make some subtle changes with filler to refine my features. I asked about nose and chin filler, which he agreed would help me achieve the outcomes I was looking for. When I mentioned that one of the outcomes I was looking for was to make my face shape appear slimmer, he suggested botox to my masseters. I had no idea botox could be administered to the masseters but after he explained how it inhibits muscle activity and therefore over time, can have a slimming effect to the jawline, I decided to go for it. And I'm so happy I did, and so grateful to Dr. Asaria for listening to my concerns and addressing them by suggesting this procedure. My first treatment was 30 units of botox on each side ($600), then 4 months later he decreased the units to 25 on each side ($500). Starting on the 3rd treatment, we decreased the dosage to 20 units to each side ($400) and I will continue with this dosage every 4 months for as long as I wish to maintain this look. It is expensive but worth every penny for me. I have included a before and after photo, taken 1 year apart. The first photo was taken right after I had 1 syringe of Juvederm filler in my nose and chin, as well as the botox. The slimming effect isn't apparent until at least 1 to 2 months after the first treatment, so you have to be patient. For me, the maximum effect didn't happen until after my 3rd treatment. It was a very gradual change. My after photo is 1 year and 4 treatments later. I still have the same nose and chin fillers in this photo so nothing else has changed, except for the fact that I'm wearing makeup in my before and none in the after. I hope this reveiw helps!

Wow, amazing results, thank you for sharing them with RealSelf! What is the masseter treatment like for you?

The treatment itself is super quick and not painful at all. I usually go during my lunch hour and then go straight back to the office. It takes a couple minutes and not very detectable. Just a few small needle marks that last a day but can easily be covered by your hair.

Hi. You look great! Can you tell me how it is that filler can help refine your nose? I'm interested in this treatment also.

Hi Holly961. Thank you! I had a very small amount of filler placed in the nose bridge area just below the space in between my eyes to straighten out a small bump. The doctor also put a drop in the tip as well as the underside between the nostrils (I don't know what this area is called). The changes are very subtle but make a huge difference in the overall balance of my face in my opinion.

Hi dear, thanks for sharing your results. How long does this botox last?

It takes about 10 days for the botox to start relaxing the masseter muscles. From there you will see a slow atrophy (decrease in size) of the muscle with the maximum effect at around 3 months. The relaxing effect lasts 4 months at which point I get another treatment to maintain the result. The before/after photos I uploaded is after 4 treatments. In my experience, I saw continuously improved results after each treatment. After the 4 treatments I believe I have reached my personal maximum result.

Very nice results! Do you still get botox injections in the masseter? I ask me if the reduction becomes permanent after few injections. And nice to see you didnt get any saggy skin near the mouth from it (were you not afraid of that?). That is the only thing that Im afraid of getting when doing it. Thank you.

Yes, I still get my maintenance dose (20 units per side) every 4 months. The reduction is not permanent, which is why you have to go in every 4 months. Botox is not permanent. I wasn't worried about sagging skin because I have good skin elasticity and no loose skin.

Oh dear, I prefer your face beforehand. It was nicely female round and somehow in harmony with your eyes. But this is very subjonctive I did only one treatment to slim my face and I regret that ever I did it. I got 40 units each site and I was so sick! No doctor warns about botulism: I had problems to breath and some headaches(unknown to me normally). I checked internet and real-self to discover the obvious truth: botox is a poison. Some ladys wright about it but I assume that it is human nature to check things on our own....

I assign zero weight to your preference for my before or after, so please keep your opinions to yourself. This forum is supposed to be a supportive community for people to share their cosmetic experiences and gain insights into procedures they may be interested in. If you aren't plastic positive, meaning that you can't support other plastics and actually take the time to post criticisms on their reviews, you don't belong here. Bye.
