OK - Getting used to elastics.

I had to comeback and update this just thinking about how I left it off lol.

So naturally just like the entire process I am used to the 'buttons' that my elastics attach to and they aren't as quite annoying as they initially were. However! I still really don't feel the best about smiling especially with a smile as wide as mine. My sister lovingly said "it looks like your teeth grew extra pieces on the side" Nice eh. Extra pieces.. the buttons are the colour of my teeth for discreet reasoning but it doesn't obviously hide the fact that they jut out. Oh well! This is supposedly my predicted 8-12 months left of the Incognito orthodontic experience.

It really was annoying getting used to putting the elastics on. One side was effortless, just the shape of my tooth and the way she glued on the button was perfect.. the other side was less than so. But when the soreness dissipated I was able to form a little technique that makes it really easy to get em off and on.

Overall - Im in no pain, still no lisp and cookies all in my braces.

1 year 6 months wearing Incognito - andddd Im getting a little over this lol

It's been awhile since Ive updated and as the heading states it's been well over a year now since Ive started this journey and only until recently I started becoming 'over' wearing braces. To be honest 85% of my journey has been so easy and truly bearable. Yeah it gets tedious and I get complacent from time to time but overall Incognito has not interfered in my daily life. I talk for a living and I haven't had a sore a cut or anything we jump to think of when thinking of lingual braces.

Besides having some actual dental/dentist work required recently which was mildly terrible, all has been well ... until today...

Thats dramatic but - I was told from the beginning I would have to wear elastics to close my awful overbite. So because my right canine tooth is not stable enough (future implant - root not strong) I have clear rough edged 'buttons' glued to my teeth.. the exterior of my teeth which means visible. When I smile these monsters stick out fully. These are awful. Metal ones are glued to my last molar and are not visible. The buttons literally catch my lip and when I smile I feel like I have to readjust my lip and it looks like my upper lip is slightly swollen but its just them resting on these buttons. Not fun :(

My teeth are sooo sore from gentle but constant yanking. I am supposed to wear the elastics 24/7 but not tonight. I can barely eat from the tenderness so the elastics can wait and take a minute.

I will upload photos soon, thanks for all those who have said nice things.. it can be overwhelming from time to time but its all worth it. It better be!

Update! 5 months into Incognito.

5 months into my treatment and I have enter the stages of thicker wires! Meaning more movement, and more control! My teeth have moved and shifted dramatically. Some teeth obviously more than others! I have seen amazing improvement and I sometimes wonder if Ill actually have to wear them for two years.

Like I said, my hygienist placed a thicker wire into my braces (top arch), which is rectanglar shaped so Im sure you can imagine the soreness of anything yanking at your teeth! I tightened them just 3 days ago so still pretty tender but Im surviving with minor complaint! Ive had a lot done but nothing yet at the same time. My teeth definitely seem to be moving extremely well and I am well on my way. A lot and I stress a lot of work still needs to be done but so far - NO REGRETS. No one knows I have them and thats the whole point right? I DO NOT consider myself to have a LISP by any means! When my mouth is dry or something it baaarellllly comes out. Only a keen ear would recognize it and you would to and adjust accordingly. It does depend on your teeth of course and where the actual brackets will sit with your tongue, and space for your tongue etc.

To sum it up, I will post pictures, and hope this helps someone continue! 5 months in and one lower premolar almost set correctly, vast alignment improvement to say the least. I sometimes (other than when I get them tightened) forget I even have them!

:) Good luck and the next time I write I hope to show and share better and straighter news!
