Gastric bypass RNY 2021 Before and After

In 2008 I lap band surgery I went 256 lbs to 138 pounds. After 118 pound weightloss my vans was slipping and strangling my organs. I was hospitalized for over a week I had multiple surgeries as the band was removed temporarily and was replaced after swelling went down then replaced. I had a total of 4 surgeries before the lapband was permanently removed. Needless to say I gained all the weight back plus.
Last year I spoke with a bariatric doctor who told me my body needed a reset. It didn’t matter how healthy I ate and how much I exercised my weightloss would be like a rubber band. I was constantly gaining weight daily.
August 2021 I had Gastric bypass surgery RNY. I was very scared and almost canceled the surgery. I was afraid after everything I had been through that I would have complications with surgery also. But found my courage and proceeded with the surgery and not one regret today. I went from 306 pounds to a 170 total loss of 136 pounds.
Occasionally I struggle with sweets cravings but I don’t deprive myself. This surgery is a tool the hard work is up to me.

Honestly I have no regrets.
My advice to anyone going through this don’t give up on yourself. Find your courage and keep pushing forward. You’ll thank yourself later.
I wish you all the best in your weightloss journey.

Ps. There will ALWAY be a negative person throwing their two cents in unless it’s a medical professional just remember who your doing this for “YOURSELF” and and take the advice with a grain of salt trust your decision and doctors advice.

Hello all, I just wanted to share my lap band...

Hello all,
I just wanted to share my lap band experience. I cannot recall the exact surgery date but I had the surgery in November or December of 2008.
My overall weight was 256 pounds. I was very excited and could not wait to have this surgery I was thinking that all my weight problems would be over. I was excited and looking forward to my new look.
The weight came off gradually and I felt great and full of energy, by 2011I had lost a whole person. I was down to 138 pounds. Between 2008 and 2014 I had the lap band replaced 2 times before removing it permanently. From the time it had been placed on my stomach I was not able to hold down food. I was living off smoothies and soft food. I Was not able to eat eggs, Chicken, steak, apples, oranges, celery, breads or pastas and when I tried to eat anything solid it would not go down, I was constantly having acid reflux. I found myself constantly purging foods I had just eaten because I was in pain and it would not go down. In 2011 I started having really bad chest pain, I went to the clinic the doctor did a defill ( water was taken out of the band) and I was sent home. Later on the pain was getting worse I thought I was having a heart attack, I was taken to emergency and the band was temporarily removed. Apparently my band had slipped and my stomach was inflamed. so after about 2 months the band was replaced and very little water was put back. after a few appointments my band was filled to a max of 2cc (my band held a max of 10cc). In 2012 my band was removed again and finally it was removed permanently in 2014. The clinic told me that there is a fee after a certain time period for the adjustments and surgeries. This was never in my contract when I agreed to have the surgery, but the clinic told that they have aright to impose those fees as it takes up the staff's time. But they clinic never charged me for the adjustment or the surgeries. (just wanted to make you aware to ask if you decide to go through with it if your clinic will charge you for the adjustments going forward)
Any how at that point I just wanted the band off and be done with lap band. The band has been off now for a few years and yes I had gained my weight back which is easy to do when you consume less than 400 calories a day. Overall I learned that there is no easy way to lose weight. We all must work hard and eat a well balanced diet and exercise regularly. Invest your money in a good dietitian and personal trainer.
