Texture changes continue
Hello all, just wanted to give an update here since I am nearing the one year mark. Unfortunatly I do not have any positive changes to report. My face shape remains the same. Even though I wear sunscreen everyday and keep my face out of the sun I continue to see texture changes. I have the classic orange peel texture along with these weird looking pores that connect into fine wrinkles when I smile. If I push up my skin to where it should be they go away, I feel this has been caused by the fat loss. My eyes remain the same, no improvements with them either.
My only suggestion to anyone reading this is to never, ever let anyone put a heat device to your face.
To those that are living with the damage I wish you much healing. You are all in my prayers every night....

I just wanted to tell you I was about to get IPL but I read all your posts (and the posts of so many others who have also been damaged and traumatized by the IPL process) and NO Way am I going to go do it now. I just thought it might help to know that your experience is informing others who need to know. I thank you for being open about your experience and sharing your story to try to help others avoid making a huge mistake. I wish you all the best with recovery. Don't give up and don't let it beat you down. Keep fighting to get your face back. You will find the right help, I know it.

I totally agree with moneekio. I was contemplating having some laser work done and thank to the posts i've read on this site, I'm not going near any of them!

Thank you. It's been a nightmare. I'm glad to hear I helped someone from making the same mistake. Please inform friends and family if the subject ever comes up. I wish I knew this was a possibility.

Consult With Plastic Surgeon
Met with a plastic surgeon yesterday to see what can be done to get me back to where I used to be. The doctor could not understand how this happened, he implied it could have been wrong settings. I brought before photos and he confirmed this procedure changed the entire shape of my face, he said there's no question about that. He wants to try injecting hyalurondase into the lower half of my face as he feels the filler I had in my tear trough could have migrated to my lower face. If that does not work he wants to try micro lipo on my lower face. He then wants to add filler to my cheeks. I'm not sold on his theory as I feel the damage has nothing to do with fillers. It's just loose skin as Inhave no more connective tissue. Also, I'm not comfortable injecting hyalurondase to an area I'm almost sure does not have filler. Looks like I'm going to have to go on another consult which means more money of course.

Regaining facial volume and skin tautness after lipoatrophy and the loss of elasticity is a major challenge. There are no photos of you, but I believe that in your particular case you might consider a facelift or cheek implants plus fillers and/or fat transfers.
People are also trying other therapies like PRP, ReCell, and ProCell, but I do not think they can permanently replace or restore the original fat cells that were melted by IPL.
Please keep us updated!

Thank you for your message. I highly recommend Doctor Born. If you have not consulted with him then I would suggest that you do so. After an awful experience with another surgeon who should not have injected me with fillers, finding Doctor Born was truly a blessing. He is an excellent surgeon, conscientious, meticulous and in possession of a honed sense of aesthetics.

I had loose skin & texture issues after one BBL treatment. I found my skin because more taught after a series of Omnilux treatments alongside the use of Psoria Gold. 15mths later, my skin is about 70% better with the help of ongoing 'no needle' mesotherapy treatments + Dermavidual products & the PG. Good luck!!!

Thanks Lewi. I tried psoria in the beginning but it didn't seem to hault the damage that was in progress.

Stick with your gut feeling on this. If you don't feel right about this last consult don't do it!!! I know this doesn't help, but I'm so sorry you are going through this. I would be the same way if this happened to me.

Texture Issues and Return of Rosacea
Well, as if things could be worse I now have weird lines and wrinkles when I smile. I have the official IPL victim wrinkles! My Rosacea has also taken a turn for the worse. I've booked a consult with the go to plastic surgeon in Toronto to see if he can help me look at least 50% better, that's all I'm hoping for one day. This doctor does not advertise (bc his clients come from word of mouth). I found out about him too late, that's for sure. I will update after my expensive consult.

I am speechless and stunned every time I read about another victim of this procedure. I can tell you that I am also very very grateful to have never gone through with plans to do this to myself. And it's only because of what I've learned here. Sammsmom, I am so very sorry this has happened to you, and all the others who are suffering. Thank you for being brave enuf to share your experience, I know for certain that it will save others from the same fate. I pray that in time you will recover physically and emotionally. Good luck with your new doctor.

Let us know what you decide to do. I love fillers. Voluma lasts up to 2 years. It's good to add cheek volume. Now I am getting Bellafill. It's permanent

Hi Samsmom, I have the same awful lines you refer to thanks to the same doctor!!! I am also going to the plastic surgeon you mention in March. Dr. SP I think is who you mean. I will also update after my consult. Samsmom, lets please stay in touch if you don't mind...perhaps we can help each other. I am trying to get past what Dr. M. did to me but it has almost been 2 years and I am not looking better. The depression and grief is almost unbearable at times. I am now in full menopause and so my skin has dried out making it look even worse. Hugs and God bless you Samsmom.

Yep, depression is horrendous. I started taking Zoloft today, can't live like this anymore

Hang in there. We will find help. We will. I know how bad it feels but it will get better somehow, I promise you that. PM anytime. I will keep you in my prayers. Wendy

I hope you feel better with the Zoloft. I was already on antidepressants when it happened but know from experience they can be a big help. I'm sorry we have to go through this.
February 25, 2016
I also have the nasty Official IPL Victim Wrinkles from my cheeks being flash-fried. My antidepressants, which I was already on, have to be increased *again. Today I started dermarolling my face (including on my rosacea, which I'm not supposed to do, but I am sort of interested to see what happens). Oh, and did I mention that I, too, am officially in menopause? So I ordered progesterone cream to slap on after dermarolling.

Ladies, what do we do next? I can't do any procedures because I have rosacea and such sensitive skin. I will never touch another IPL or laser again. A doc has suggested forma to me which will increase collegen, he says, but I am too scared. I try and try to stay positive but I had a good look at my skin today in the light and the lines are imbedded, they are NOT going anywhere. I look terrible. Please help me. What can I do???

March 3, 2016
I dermarollered my rosacea areas with a .25mm and nothing bad has happened so far. My chin and nose were a bit red and then the redness went away, just like on my cheeks and forehead.
Were you smiling when you looked at your skin? And what is Forma?

I mean, my chin and my nose -- my two rosacea areas -- were a bit more flushed after being dermarollered with the .25mm, but they soon returned to their normal level of unattractive redness.

Hi Wendy, I’m sorry that you had to go through this. I also have lines/indentations from the piece used on my face. Have yours improved at all?
February 26, 2016
I am so sorry this dreadful thing happened to you, no one can imagine this unless it's them, I had a deep peel and got severe cystic acne which I never had and wanted to hide for almost a year!!! Husband was great, but I got nowhere until I took accutane..believe me I thought being dead was better for my family and me, I was so miserable. It's been 15 years and many things to keep on top of it, so seek help from board certified dr that can do voluma filler or juvaderm , it's very natural, but you have to keep it up. Hang in there they can inject tear trough area under eye and it's amazing. Also anywhere else on face to get you out and about again, you will find your happy again..

Hi samsmom, I am finally seeing this same doc (SP) in September. September 30th exactly. I cannot wait. My rosacea is quite bad right now. There is one other doc who is excellent and I might suggest him to you. His name is Dr. Noel Solish. He is a cosmetic derm and in the same office building as Mulholland and Pritchard. He is very kind and very caring and the other half of his practice is in mohs cancer at Women's College. A doc that I work with recommended him to me. Have you considered accutane at all. I have heard that it can help a lot a improving texture. I finally received approval to try it at an ultra low does but am very afraid. Pls feel free to PM me with any questions. Please try and get your rosacea under control. I let mine go a bit for the last year as I was so depressed and my skin looks very bad right now. Hugs to you.
I have had fat loss in my cheeks and about three weeks ago, started facial exercises. I am hoping that I will be able to build up some muscle in the cheek area to accommodate for some of the fat loss. I have also ordered the Anteage growth hormone serum as it claims to assist with inflammation and get rid of fine wrinkles and improve pores. After reading about fillers and fat transfers, I'm terrified those could completely botch my face so am trying to repair my skin somewhat with other means.
I wish you all the best. Please update if anything works for you.
