Did not do my research. Do NOT let anyone go near you with this device. Radiation burns from the radio frequencies in this device. My eyes have sunken in with my entire face changing shape. Go to laser damage support forum. This is real and doctors refuse to acknowledge the severe reactions because of the money this procedure generates. Unless you want to be physically and psychologically damaged, stay away. I can't go back but you still have a choice. PM me for photos and details. I won't list the doctor as I blame myself as well for believing in him and his sales pitch.

Perhaps you are being too hard on yourself and the results are not as bad as you imagine...

Experiencing the same tragedy right now. After my second BBL, I was certain i had little indentations under the fat pads of my eyes, the RN who highly recommended this procedure said that what I was seeing wasn't happening. Well, I hesitantly went back for my third and last procedure yesterday. She said depth increases each visit. Well, today I wake up and there are sunken pockets in my cheeks and a hard lumps with one large one the left side. of my cheek, in addition to my eyes being swollen, of which that I think can be the normal part of it. Now from what I'm reading this may end up being permanent. I can put my finger into the sockets of my cheeks, and I have a round full face with very little pores, no freckles, no sun damage, she says each time I'm there I have beautiful skin. Now I have lumpy sunken skin. I hope and pray this resolves itself. I've called the office and I will raise hell if I need to .

Update
Things have not improved. As Dr. Mulholland failed to provide me with eye shields I have nerve damage and loss of fat around my orbital bone. I have excellent before and after photos. Please stay away from this doctor and his machines unless your looking for permanent damage. The psychological ramifications are almost unbearable.

Dear Samsmom223,
I've noticed that stories with photos get a lot of response from the community. I feel you had a terrible experience and freaked out and we really didn't respond quickly maybe because we can't see you? I'm kind of new here. How are you doing now, any improvements? IPL and laser are the beauty machines from hell unfortunately and the operators are greedy with no disregard for ruining peoples faces and lives. I cannot believe they didn't provide you with eye protection! How bad is your nerve damage?

I know, everyone keeps telling me that. It gives me so much anxiety when I think about it. Nerve pain/discomfort is always there. I've been to 3 dermatologists, when I explain I had no eye protection they look at me like it's a normal thing. Nobody wants to get involved. I've been told what's done is done. I can't post pics as I have great anxiety over this task. One eye is more sunken than the other. It's a great look! I've shared photos with some members on the laser damage support board.

I understand your anxiety to post pictures. How unfortunate this happened to you, thanks for sharing. My advice is don't punish your self and don't lose hope; some people's damage improves with time or they find a solution to make it better. Regards,

I'm so sorry to hear this! I have laser damage too. Even though they used eye shields on me I have horrible sunken in eyes and lots of lines!! I look old!!

I don't get it. These machines need to be destroyed. I spoke to someone else who also had eye shields and the eyes are sunken as well. It's the different shape that bothers me and the weird sensations. Do you have eye pain or soreness?

IPL, RF, and lasers can cause "collateral damage," meaning that problems can pop up in or spread to places that were *not directly treated* during the procedure, including the eye area. For example, my cheeks were damaged by IPL even though she did not touch them with the device.

I get ipl package of three every year and have had great results and would recommend to all but it seems in your case it was the doctor that was at fault ... So important to research the doctor in more than one way .. I always research the procedure I'm interested in too so I know what's involved as well videos to be fully knowledgable of the procedure and what steps they do beforehand ... You have to be you're own advocate and not put all your trust into a doctor, because unfortunately their ate some out there who don't care about the end result and it's more about making money ...So sorry you had such a bad experience and wish you the best

He has over 20 years experience. I have seen the procedure done as well. I asked the doctor if I needed eye shields and he said no. It happens quite often as these machines are unpredictable. You are gambling with your face by having this done. Please visit the IPL/Laser damage board site and you may understand the damages more.

Please do not blame people for not doing their research as it only makes people feel worse. I had the same doc as Samsmom and I did a Lot of research!

This is one hundred percent the physicians fault!! I work in the general surgery arena and ANY MD is supposed to understand and be educated on everything regarding the equipment he or she is using on a patient, no excuses! PERIOD

IPL Damage remains the same
Just an update on my horrific experience that I've had the pleasure to piece myself together thanks to Spamedica, Dr. Mulholland and Cynosure laser Co.
I'm almost 3 months out. I feel like the upper part of my face has disappeared. My mother in law came over last week and looked at my face like wtf? She commented I had lost a lot of weight. I actually weighed less the last time she saw me. She's commenting on the sad state of my face. My cheeks were completely melted and now the lower half of my face sags. I look like my 65 year old father. I went from being very attractive to Frank Galligher overnight. I drink like him too now that My looks are gone at 35.
I spend $500/ mth in therapy that is doing nothing to appease this traumatic experience. I've also lost friends and family members due to my depressive state. I remain alone in this nightmare.

Thanks catgirl. I am not built for change. I've had the same hairdresser since my teens. This sudden unexpected change to my appearance is very devestating for me.
Thank you for sharing your experience. I hope you find support within the community.
