Couldn't be happier

Couldn't Be Happier.

I recently underwent chin and neck (submental) liposuction with Dr. Lawrence Tong in Toronto, ON. After 2 years of doing extensive research, I felt like Dr. Tong was by far the most knowledgable and experienced in this area of cosmetic surgery. He made me feel comfortable from the minute I met him and gave me his honest opinion and set realistic expectations.
BACKGROUND:
I am in my late 20s, weigh around 130lbs and in really good shape. I work out 4-5 times a week and eat relatively healthy. I have ALWAYS had a double chin - it is hereditary as everyone in my family has one. No matter how much weight I would lose, the stubborn fat would never go away and it has bothered me for YEARS. I am happy and confidence with how I look from the front but as for my side profile….all I would ever notice in photos was that second chin!
PROCEDURE:
I decided to go with the IV sedation (twilight) because I have a low pain tolerance and can get pretty anxiety/nervous. My cousin had also told me that when she got chin liposuction (~6 years ago), she did it under local and experienced the worst pain she’s ever felt (she went to a different surgeon). I can attest that I did not feel a single thing during the surgery. I knew what was going on but it did not hurt at all. I have been told that the worst part is the injection of the fluid which helps to get the fat out but I didn’t feel a thing. The entire process was over within 35-40 minutes. He was able to remove about 30cc of fat. Dr. Tong's staff was outstanding - I felt so comfortable and cared for. Also, both Jean and Katherine (from the very start) were so helpful with answering all my pre-op questions and continue to answer any post-op related inquiries.
RECOVERY:
I only took one pain killer (I think they’re T3’s) that was prescribed, otherwise, there was not much pain. I felt more sore than anything which was extremely manageable. I had absolutely NO BRUISING which I am still shocked about given all the reviews I’ve seen from other people that underwent the same procedure. I’ve read lots of reviews about bruising and this was my #1 concern as I wanted to get back to work ASAP with no one noticing. I read that a lot of people purchased arnica pills/cream to reduce bruising but I did not need this at all. I also did not require a stitch - Dr. Tong took the tape off my incision spot 5 days post-op and I couldn’t even see where the injection spot was - unbelievable! The operation took place on a Wednesday and I returned to work the following Tuesday. With my Job, I was able to work from home the Friday and Monday.
I wore the head strap religiously as I wanted to minimize swelling (though I didn’t have any at all) and get the best results. I wore it 24/7 for 5.5 days and now when I get home from work, I wear it + at night (this is recommended for 4 more weeks). During the first 5.5 days, I drank LOTS of water to try and stay hydrated as well. Sleeping was not THAT bad. I slept elevated (at least 30 degree angle) for the first 4 nights. I also used my airplane pillow that wraps around my neck - I found it really helped me to get more comfortable. Eating was okay too - couldn’t open my mouth all the way for the first 2-3 days because of the head wrap but just eat soft foods and you’ll be fine!
FINAL RESULTS:
I am about 6 days post-op and I could not be happier. No bruising. No swelling. No scar. And guess what? I have a jaw line and no double chin!! I cannot thank Dr. Tong and his staff enough. I will continue to wear my wrap at night and do some chin exercises to avoid lumps….I will update at 6 weeks and 6 month mark.
PS. Like my mother always told me, you get what you pay for.

Hmm I went to the same doc for the same prodecdure 1 month after you and paid nearly $1,000 more than you. Did you post what you paid in US dollars or Canadian? I paid about $3,500 Canadian and am around the same age and build as you. Interesting
Hey! I paid around 3500 Canadian! I think this site converts to USD :)
Ok, thanks! I was worried for a second that I overpaid. Your results are great!
I’m still in the compression bandage stage and haven’t taken a close look at my results yet.
Exciting! I’m sure you’ll love your results! I suggest just wearing that compression bandage constantly until your follow up appt with Dr Tong!!
Ps feel free to inbox me directly if you have any questions !!
Thank you!
