I meant to say:

What took weeks to heal, is NOW*** healing in days.

7 days after the peel

So the day I got my peel my skin glowed like crazy, I was in love with it!! 3 Days in, it started to peel and flake and looked dull again. I was hoping that it would go back to it's original glow once it stopped peeling. On day 7 (today) I would say for the most part the peeling is over and yes, my is back to that day 1 glow (well maybe 80%). I highly recommend this, and will get it done again. I actually ordered it online so I could do it myself as I will not be overzealous and have confidence now that I have had it professionally done and had great results. The only bad thing that happened was that the aesthetician said that my skin would be sun sensitive and I would have to wear sunscreen. So I went and bought the Olay moisturizer I normally use, but with SPF 15. As soon as I put some on my fingers, I could feel it was greasier and hesitated. However I applied it to my face because I know that most sunscreens have this greasy quality to them and it's unavoidable. Well since I started to use it, my chin broke out, as well as my cheeks (Which NEVER break out). It took me a while to figure out why it was breaking out, and the breakout kept growing and growing. But as soon as I stopped using the moisturizer, it stopped growing and the redness went down. Today I purchased a water-based gel moisturizer for acne prone skin, which kind of feels like Aloe Vera gel or Ultrasound gel. It has no greasiness to it, and I'm excited to see if it will give me good results with my skin. Overall my skin is healing must faster after this peel. What took weeks to heal, is not healing in days. This may be a temporary effect of the peel, but either way I am so happy :)

I have had cystic acne from age 12-25, but through...

I have had cystic acne from age 12-25, but through extensive testing with my diet have been able to identify the food that have been causing it for me (dairy, all grains and starches) and have been able to prevent it from occuring. However the acne left me with some less than perfect skin, with brown marks leftover from where the acne used to be, premature wrinkles and a rough texture to my skin. Thankfully only one real indented scar on my nose which I was not looking to address this time around. With some research on this website I decided to get a chemical peel done.

I decided to go to Cosmedix MD in Toronto, a clinic run by a dermatologist where the aestheticians carry out the procedures and the dermatologist oversees it so that he knows everyone is properly trained.

I have a fair skin tone, with lots of freckles and brown eyes and brown hair. After consulting with one of the aestheticians I decided to get a 40% glycolic peel to start. A few weeks later I was back at the clinic for my combined facial and 40% glycolic peel. It was a very pleasant experience and once the glycolic acid was applied, I felt a little bit of stinging but I didn't need a fan or anything like that. She sat over my skin and watched it for signs of whether it was reacting or not. It stayed on for about two minutes. She said my skin was taking it surprisingly well (she thought my skin would be more sensitive) and then she asked me to walk to the sink and wash it off myself under the tap because I would be able to feel where the feel was. She then examined my skin and said I had great results and she said I would see an improvement in my skin. I am wondering if the fact that I regularly use a natural soap on my face called African Black Soap was the reason my skin took the peel so well. African Black Soap deeply exfoliates your skin and perhaps it prepared me for the action of the peel. This is just a guess, but maybe I can ask the next time I go back.

Anyway I thought I would contribute a positive review to the pile, since there are so many peels gone wrong here. I am sure I could get it done cheaper somewhere else, but the experience, knowledge and doctor oversight calms me and is worth it to me.

Even though your skin is sun sensitive after the peel, I live downtown so I walked 30 minutes home anyway. It was not sunny outside and I didn't notice any negative reaction from doing it.

7 hours after the glycolic peel was applied, my skin looks so much brighter and the brown marks are already fading. The rough patch on my forehead has decreased about 50%. My skin is definitely glowing and my premature wrinkling is not visible. My esthetician thought I would get best results with a combination of glycolics and microdermabrasion, so I am considering it. But the results after one peel are definitely worth the price for me.

I don't know if I would consider a medium depth peel, as one dermatologist's office told me they were getting outdated and that lasers are more controlled and have less side effects, although after reading laser reviews on this site I am not excited about getting a treatment.
