End of Tray 21 (Start of Tray 22)

I changed to tray 22 last night. Sorry I don't have any pics. Just came on here to say that I do indeed have to wear the remainder of my trays for 3 weeks each, to try to not make that other problem tooth fall out.

Life is a bit depressing for me at the moment and my tooth situation doesn't help my mood. But I am thankful that I a alive and have good friends and family.

I am actually still happy with the actual invisalign process. After all, it is not invisalign's fault that I have crappy teeth and gum issues. My gap is not quite at "normal-size" gap but it is close to being there. Hopefully, by the end of tray 24 things will look ok on the gap front and I won't have to suffer through eating with my bottom tray in, in new situations or when around new people.

Will try to post pics next time.

End of Tray 17 (Start of Tray 18)

So, I went to my invisa dentist last week to get my trays 18 through 23. However, the week before that I had gone to my regular dentist for my regular cleaning and once again the hygienist expressed fear about one of the teeth beside the gap being very shaky. So, when I went to the invisa person I again mentioned this to her. And this time she agreed with the hygienist. In fact, she thinks the two teeth beside the gap and a 3rd one, beside one of those are too loose :(. So she recommended I wear tray 17 for an extra week AND my next 3 trays for 3 weeks each, instead of 2 weeks each.

Thus, I am only now supposed to change tray 17, tomorrow. One week later than I should have.

I am now scared the main problem tooth is gonna fall out :(. It has definitely gotten shakier since last time I posted. Hoping my invisa person is right though and it just needs extra time for the next few trays to settle into its new spot before moving, since it has less of a base than my other teeth. So I will definitely follow the recommendation to wear the teeth for an extra long time. It just sucks that now, just by this extra time added, I have lost a month's worth of normal tray time, i.e. I will now be 2 trays behind. So my treatment is now going to go for an extra month.

And who knows what will happen when I go at the end of tray 20? She says it should be better by the end of these 3 trays I will be wearing for an extended time, but really, who knows? Knowing my luck and my genes, she may very well recommend I wear ALL future trays for 3 weeks each, a HIGHLY depressing thought. Because I still have 18 trays to go! Sad faces upon sad faces...

In other related news, I am still dating the guy from my aforementioned post. And I still have yet to take out my bottom tray in front of him...Was hoping to do it by the end of this tray 17. However, looking at my teeth (see attached images, which I took last week before finding out I had an extra wk) I think I will wait til tray 20 as then the gap will be more normal. Right now, without the tray, the gap is still a little too big...All this of course, if we are still together then (a very big IF atm). But even if I am not with him anymore, there are some situations where I will finally be free to take out my bottom tray, at the end of tray 20. I cannot wait for that.

I also decided to stop wearing the false tooth for the tray 18 which I will start tomorrow. I have already stopped wearing the tooth for tray 17 on some days when I know I am only going to be interacting with a small group of trusted people from work. The fake tooth is so small now anyways and it is SUCH a bother to ensure it doesn't fall out when taking out my trays. Plus, the special cleaning for it...Will be happy to be done with it once and for all.

I am still happy with the way my teeth are moving and how the gap is noticeably closing but I am in a little bit of a down mood because I am not seeing a light at the end of the tunnel yet. Especially with these lengthened tray times.

Hopefully, the next time I post at the end of tray 20 I will be in a better mood.

Here's to hoping my problem teeth cooperate!

End of Tray 12 - Start of Tray 13

Wow, it HAS been a while! I am actually halfway through tray 13, but am gonna post my pics from just before I put them in.

Still have a ways to go but my gap is definitely closing! I have up til tray 17 with me and I can see that for trays 16 and 17 the fake tooth looks really tiny. Looking forward to putting in tray 17. It is a double-edged sword though, because I can't wait to get to tray 17 BUT I live in Canada and tray 17 would signal the end of summer. I LOVE summer, relish the slightly warmer weather we get here and am not wanting summer to end at all. So ye conflicted.

As for life with Invisa since last update, I am no longer religious about times I have them out. I think I average around 20-20.5 hours of keeping my trays in. A handful of times I have kept them out for hours at a time, but haven't really worried about it. I drink wine, alcohol and juice with them in still.

Also, I recently started seeing someone (about a month ago, i.e. 2 trays back) and was super nervous about how the whole kissing thing would work. I mentioned my trays to him during our first date. But he hadn't even noticed til I pointed it out. And he still kept forgetting for a while there in the beginning. But kissing has been fine(!). I have, however, yet to actually eat without my bottom tray in in front of him...I just take out my top tray when we are eating, which makes eating not the most enjoyable feeling. I am waiting til tray 17 before I consider taking out the bottom tray in front of him (that is, if we are still together!).

I have attached the pics I took at the end of tray 12 a week ago. As I said, the gap is closing. I was a little concerned about the way it is closing (very unevenly - top much smaller than bottom), but apparently that is the plan for a little while more, til my next visit when I get more IPR. Also, when I went for my regular dental cleaning a month ago the hygienist had said she was scared to clean around one of the teeth beside the gap because it felt very loose. My invisa person, however, says it feels fine. And it doesn't really feel looser than usual to me either (it and the extracted tooth were always looser than other teeth and it is only slightly loose).

As for my invisa person. I don't even see the invisa dentist when I go in, just her assistant. She basically makes the assistant do everything (except the IPR). I am guessing this is the Groupon effect. But the assistant is absolutely wonderful, one of the nicest healthcare providers I have ever met, if not the nicest. So I am happy with the service so far.

Will post an update in a few trays time, maybe at the end of tray 17, the halfway point to my 35 trays. And that is hopefully when I will do comparison pics.
