So far...

So far so good!
At 10 days post, I started to feel more like myself. And it gets better each day!
The lump on my chin has disappeared and so has the soreness. I have a tiny reminant of a bruise and a mark from the incision. I think it will scar.

As for my nose, I still have stitches on the inside that are visible depending on the angle my head is in. It is sore to the touch, but mostly numb.
I am still cleaning my nostrils with ointments twice a day because it tends to crust inside which makes breathing really hard!
My under eye bruises are almost gone, but there is still a tiny bit of purple.
I would recommend a post rhino facial because the dead skin under the cast is really tough to get off at home. I try to avoid touching my nose too much, so washing my face is a bit of a gentle dodging game.

I haven't regained full movement of my mouth which I suppose is a combination if the chin and nose work. I can smile, but not enough to show my teeth. My hubby has commented that it looks "stiff".
But I'm SO happy with my results thus far!

My next appointment is on Tuesday, so I'll be asking about my mouth come next week!

Post-op follow up appointment advice.

Based on my experience, (I'll update this soon) Here is some advice for your follow up appointments!

1. Take one of your painkillers before you arrive: having the packing removed wasn't painful, but the stitch removal, and vaccuming of the nose & throat is. Your meds will take the edge off. (Except if driving. Take a cab if you can.)

2. Don't wear white: I'd suggest dark colors, or even a change of shirt to be extra prepared! Your nose can bleed when the packing is removed, and in my case I coughed out a big collection of blood and mucous, that barely missed my white turtleneck. Better safe than sorry!

3: Bring up any concerns: In my case, I have a bump on my chin implant that was concerning me. The sooner you talk about it, the better.

4. Bring sunglasses under eye cover up and scarf: Your eyes or chin will probably still be bruised. And if you're anything like me and want to enjoy your first day out without a cast and curious eyes, these are important.

5. Bring your Health Card and money: in case you get a prescription after like me, have your belongings ready for a trip to the pharmacy.

6. Dont Worry: The journey isn't over yet. You'll have plenty of swelling and will likely be shocked when the bandages come off. I hope you will all stay positive and not worry or be scared for the follow up appointment. It will be over in no time :) and by no time I mean 15 minutes.

One Week Post Updates

Tomorrow is the day I get my cast and packing out!
I am SO excited, and I can't even begin to tell you how much I'm looking forward to being able to smell and taste again. Have even booked a nice night out with hubby :)

My bruising is nearly gone on my chin, and under my eyes there is still significant bruising. But on the bright side, my eyes are no longer swollen. 20/20 vision, yay!

My chin is a bit sore when I eat. I'm more swollen on the right side than the left, but im not too concerned about it. All of my stitches are still in, I guess they aren't the dissolvable kind. (Crap.) My mouth movement is still very restricted.
I can't stop looking at my chin in the mirror, the balance its given my face is Serious.

My nasal stitches have been coming out over the course of the week. The septum area is totally numb, I can't feel a thing when I touch it. I have one or two stitches along the alar base and they are barely hanging on.
The packing has been driving my absoloutley insane. It's as if I can feel it in dangling in the back of my throat whenever I swallow, and to top it off with the nasal drip, it hasn't been exactly pleasant.
Recovery has been a more difficult process than I'd imagined. I'm the type of person to take everything in stride and look on the bright side, but I truly did have a hard time with my rhinoplasty recovery.
The pain is minimal, but the discomfort is not anything to underestimate.
