Firstly I can’t speak highly enough of my wonderful experience with Dr Chris Moss and his staff.
I hope you don’t mind I will give you a little insight into why I decided to have surgery as I know that others looking to do the same like to read honest reviews. This is a very personal decision and one that needs to be made by you and not influenced by others.
My decision to have surgery was 30 years in the making, from the age of 15 I had large breasts and really disliked them. Being a shy teenager I always used to cover up in thick woolly jumpers when I could and wearing bathers or a bikini in public without a t-shirt was not on.
Over the years my ample bosom created many a problem, most significantly were the constant migraines, neck, shoulder blade and back problems.
At approximately 5’1” I just felt that my breasts just didn’t match my body shape, they were always out there leading the way and I was very top heavy.
So finally at almost 45 years old I finally found the courage to finally do something about it.
My local GP referred me to Dr Chris Moss in Toorak, it was very brave of me to get a referral from my GP and then it took even more courage to make the initial appointment about 6 months later.
With my supportive husband in tow my first appointment was with Stacey who explained the procedure showed us some before and after shots of other breast reduction patients and took some photos of me. Stacey was absolutely lovely so friendly and she put my mind at ease and I immediately felt comfortable and to me this was important as I was making a very big decision.
I decided immediately that this was something that I wanted to do if I didn’t make a surgery appointment now I never would and I would regret it for the rest of my life. This was early December and we made the Surgery for May with an appointment to see Dr Moss in the March. We left our appointment this day armed with a lot of information to read which was very helpful and only confirmed that I had made the right decision for me.
The March appointment from memory we again saw Stacey and also met Jamie and Olivia they are all Nurses and all of them are tremendous to deal with so welcoming and friendly. At this time was I given more information on what to do leading up to the surgery, vitamins to take what medication to cease etc and post-surgery care. This was extremely helpful it was set out in such a way that it was very easy to refer to and to know exactly what you had to do and when and how long for.
When I met Dr Moss he examined me and then we discussed what could be done and the realistic expectations. I was a 14F probably verging on a G and ideally would like to have become a C, Dr Moss didn’t promise the world just that he would do the best he could. As I was quite large with very dense breasts once he was in there he would have to see what he could do. I was more than happy with the response anything would be an improvement on what I was currently living with. We discussed possible loss of nipple sensation and the possibility of them not being symmetrical. Dr Moss was very easy to talk to and answered any questions we had honestly.
The date of surgery was bought forward by about 3 weeks so in the end I did not have too much time to get worried. I would say up until this time I wasn’t really worried or scared just excited that it was finally going to happen.
Dr Moss came in later in the afternoon to check to see how I was doing, I do vaguely recall speaking with him and asked how much did you remove and how long was the surgery. The answers I fail to remember exactly! When I looked down towards my chest is looked like I had no breasts left!
The next morning the nurse was advised to remove the tape ready for Dr Moss to inspect me for discharge, he was very happy with everything as was I when I saw them for the first time. I was advised that they were still swollen and that they would still go down and that I would still need to leave in the little drains for a further week but at lease the other bigger ones were removed. Olivia and Jamie came for a visit to see how I was going and to inspect the incredible difference of my now breasts.
We stayed in Melbourne an extra 2 nights just to be safe, I took the prescribed medication as advised although I can honestly say that I felt no real pain. I was extremely tired, the sides of my torso just under my armpits were a little sore from the liposuction but the breasts themselves experienced no pain. The day after surgery we purchased a post-operative compression bra which was brilliant and very comfortable to sleep in.
We returned a week later for a follow up and for changing of the dressings and tape, the breasts were looking really good, there was bruising the right side was much worse than the left but of no concern. We were able to start changing the dressing ourselves and just a tip it is much easier if someone does it for you.
I was eventually able to change the tape myself every day, use the Vitamin E cream/oil to break up the lumps and bumps and to use Silicon Strips at night for scar healing.
At about week 5 I purchased my first wire free bra a size 14D which was very exciting, at my 6 week follow up Dr Moss advised that they were still a little swollen and would decrease in size still. This was music to my ears. At 11 weeks I purchased another wire free bra a 14C I had indeed been brought down to my ideal size a C cup and I could be happier.
From the moment I had my surgery no more migraines, neck, shoulder or back aches brilliant!
Mid-August will see my 4 month appointment and I will have only good things to report, the complete experience with Dr Moss and everyone at his practice has been the most pleasant and rewarding experience, we can only sing high praises of Dr Moss and as my husband quite often tells him he is a magician!
I am a firm believer in you get what you pay for and I felt very comfortable in my choice of Surgeon, someone that has a great reputation and has performed this surgery many times. His technique is brilliant, the stiches perfect and the scars very neat, with time these will improve and I look forward to the end result.
If I had to do it all over again I would not change a thing what for me was very daunting was made all that more pleasant by the professional friendly attitude of Dr Moss , Stacey, Olivia and Jamie.
